Danielle Fishel Discusses Family Principles That Guided Her Through Hollywood’s Challenges

Danielle Fishel, known for her role in the popular series Boy Meets World, understands the vital role family plays in maintaining a balanced life amid the pressures of fame. Recently, after performing on Dancing with the Stars, Fishel shared insights into how her family has supported her throughout her career in Hollywood.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Fishel emphasized that her family serves as her anchor. “My family is the thing that keeps me grounded,” she stated, alongside her dance partner Pasha Pashkov.

Throughout her journey in the entertainment industry, Fishel’s family has always encouraged her dreams while ensuring she remains connected to reality. “My family didn’t need me to have a job, but they allowed me to have a job because I wanted it. And because of that, they then made sure I still came home from work and picked up the dog poop in the backyard,” she explained.

Keeping it Real Through Childhood Fame

Fishel gained widespread recognition at the young age of 12 as Topanga Lawrence-Matthews in Boy Meets World, a role she held for seven successful years. Her quick rise to fame never overshadowed the importance of her upbringing.

The actress fondly recalled strict household rules that her family consistently enforced. “Every morning I still had to make my bed, and they never let me go to, you know, teen nightclubs,” she recounted, noting that these boundaries helped shape her character.

Aside from family, Fishel credits her close-knit group of friends from high school for providing essential support as she navigated the pressures of stardom. This tight circle has remained a critical part of her life, ensuring that she stays grounded.

Life Lessons from Mom

Fishel shared a memorable piece of advice from her mother. She recalled, “If you don’t want to do this anymore, you just say the word and I will whip this car around so fast your head will spin.” This sentiment echoed through Fishel’s mind whenever she felt overwhelmed or started taking her career for granted.

Her mother’s words act as a reminder of the significance of gratitude. “My mom would remind me that this was, at one time, a dream for me. And if it no longer becomes a dream, then let it go. And then I would think to myself, ‘Is this still a dream? No, it’s still a dream.’ And you just keep going,” Fishel explained, highlighting the importance of reflection in her journey.

A Growing Confidence on the Dance Floor

Fishel’s recent appearance on Dancing with the Stars has further showcased her growth and determination. Recently, she performed to the song No Good Deed from Wicked, receiving an impressive score of 36 out of 40.

Her dance partner, Pasha, played a crucial role in her progress. Fishel expressed gratitude for his encouragement, stating, “He continues to really challenge me, which I appreciate.” This challenge has proven instrumental in boosting her self-confidence during performances.

“I’ve been feeling comfortable in my body, more like I kind of know what I’m doing, more familiar with just the space and what the days and nights are like,” she said, underscoring her development as a dancer.

Each week brings new challenges in choreography, yet Fishel feels her confidence strengthens regardless. “My confidence has definitely grown each week,” she affirmed.

Rising to Challenges

Pasha’s commitment to pushing Fishel further has not gone unnoticed. Rather than simplifying routines, he embraces the difficulty. Fishel remarked on this approach, noting, “He could have been like, well, I don’t know if she’s capable of it. Let’s just make it easier. And he didn’t. He said, ‘Look, this is what I want to do. Let’s see if we’re capable of it.’ And I just wanted to rise to that challenge.” This attitude reflects both Fishel’s dedication and Pasha’s belief in her capabilities.

As they prepare for future performances, the pair dedicates numerous hours to practice every day. “We rehearse every day of the week for four hours at a time,” Fishel shared, illustrating their commitment to excellence.

Danielle Fishel’s journey through the complexities of Hollywood serves as a relatable narrative for many.
