Tunnel to Towers Foundation CEO Frank Siller highlighted the important work his organization has accomplished in aiding homeless veterans during a recent appearance on Fox & Friends. Over the past few years, the foundation has successfully assisted more than 17,000 veterans find stable housing, a remarkable achievement as Veterans Day approaches.
Since its inception, Tunnel to Towers has built nearly 2,000 mortgage-free homes for military families and first responders. This includes specialized smart homes designed for those with critical injuries. Siller shared that injured veterans and first responders often express that the most valuable feature of their smart homes is the bathrooms, which provide a sense of independence.
“It’s the bathrooms because they can go in there and not have to ask somebody to help,” Siller remarked. “Imagine the struggle of these individuals who cherish their independence. By providing them with accessible amenities, we help restore their dignity and autonomy.”
Ambitious Goals for the Future
Siller described the mission of caring for homeless veterans as an enormous undertaking. He acknowledged that the foundation initially felt apprehensive about taking on such a challenge due to the extensive resources required for housing, job placement, and additional support services. However, Siller expressed a strong commitment to this mission.
“I truly believe our foundation would not be living up to our values if we did not pursue this path,” he stated with conviction. “I know God has placed us on this journey, and we are determined to follow it.” He further announced that by the close of this year, the foundation aims to have helped 17,500 homeless veterans find shelter in the last two and a half years. This statistic is significant, particularly considering that many of these individuals are family-oriented and include children.
Current Challenges and Future Plans
During his interview, Siller mentioned that there are currently about 500 individuals on a waiting list for new homes. Looking ahead, he assured supporters that Tunnel to Towers is committed to expanding its efforts. In 2026, the goal is to construct at least 100 additional smart homes for veterans.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind his mission, Siller shared a personal connection to the cause. He lost his brother, a firefighter, in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. In honor of his brother and the sacrifices made by first responders, Siller announced an ambitious goal for next year: to deliver 343 mortgage-free homes, which averages to nearly one home every day to deserving families.
“Each of these homes represents a dedication to those who have sacrificed so much for our country,” Siller emphasized during his heartfelt address to the gathered first responders. “They deserve our support and recognition, and we are here to provide that.”
