Pregnant Widow Reflects on Husband’s Last Words Before Tragic Bar Incident in Arizona

A pregnant widow is sharing the heartbreaking final text from her husband, who lost his life following an altercation outside a bar in Scottsdale, Arizona, earlier this month. This tragic incident has left a family shattered just weeks before their baby’s arrival.

Thomas John Pizzitola, aged 29, was found unconscious on a sidewalk around 2:15 a.m. on October 11, near Pattie’s First Avenue Lounge. According to reports, he had been kicked out of the bar along with two friends for unruly behavior. Witnesses indicate that moments before the altercation, Pizzitola and his friends were waiting outside for a rideshare.

Details surrounding the incident suggest that one of Pizzitola’s friends inadvertently bumped into a woman. In a sudden escalation, Drew Meneses, aged 24, allegedly struck Pizzitola with a sucker punch that rendered him unconscious.

Pizzitola’s wife, Krisan, had dropped him off for what was meant to be a fun night with friends, just weeks ahead of their son’s expected birth. Reflecting on that night, she recounted the poignant text she received from him moments before the tragedy unfolded.

“I texted him that I had gotten home, and he replied, wishing that I was there. He expressed how proud he was of me for staying home to take care of our baby boy and added that he loved me,” Krisan shared, noting that this message was the last communication she would ever receive from him.

Pizzitola was quickly rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to a fatal brain injury later that same day.

Arrests Made in Connection with the Incident

Following the incident, police arrested five individuals linked to Pizzitola’s death on October 22. Among those arrested was Meneses, who is facing a charge of second-degree murder.

During his court appearance, Meneses expressed regret, stating that the incident was simply a bad night. He maintained that his actions were not intended to cause harm.

Prosecutor Angela Andrews mentioned that surveillance footage clearly shows Pizzitola standing with his arms by his sides when Meneses approached and struck him unexpectedly from behind.

Additional Charges for Co-Defendants

The group of suspects also includes Julius Husser, aged 27, Tony Becker, 26, and Mark Whitford, 23. All three individuals face charges of aggravated assault, and Husser and Becker are additionally charged with assault. Another suspect, Krista Molina, aged 27, is charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

As of now, Meneses remains in custody with a bond set at $1 million while the judicial process unfolds.

Awaiting New Life Amid Heartbreak

Krisan, who is expecting a baby boy next month, is trying to navigate her grief while preparing to welcome their child into the world. She is making an effort to remain strong, despite the profound anger and sorrow that accompanies her loss.

“I am trying so hard not to let this situation consume me. I want to be the strong woman he believed I was,” she expressed to the media. Krisan plans to honor her late husband by naming their son TJ Vito, a tribute to Thomas Pizzitola.

“He always wanted to be the best father he could be, and he had so much more to give,” she added, her voice breaking with emotion.

A Community Coming Together

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support Krisan and her family during this difficult time. The campaign highlights Pizzitola’s legacy, emphasizing his role as an organ donor and how he will continue to impact lives even after his untimely death.

As details of this tragic incident continue to emerge, the community and family are left grappling with a profound loss. They demand justice while also reflecting on the precious moments that have been so cruelly disrupted.

The emotional scars of this event will undoubtedly linger for years to come, making it crucial to remember the lives lost to violence and the lasting impact on the families left behind.
