PROGRAMMING ALERT: Watch the full interview tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Jesse Watters Primetime.
Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk recently sat down for her first television interview since the tragic assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk. This powerful conversation aired on Jesse Watters Primetime, where Erika opened up about her grief and resilience.
During the emotional interview, Erika recalled the moment she saw Charlie lying in the hospital following his fatal shooting in September. She described his unmistakable smirk, a symbol of defiance amid tragedy. “He had this smirk on his face. That smirk to me is that look of ‘you thought you could stop what I’ve built. You thought that you could end this vision, this movement, this revival. You thought you could do that by murdering me. You got my body, you didn’t get my soul,'” Erika shared with Jesse Watters two months after the heartbreaking event.
Throughout this candid discussion, Erika also spoke about her life after the loss of her husband. She tackled various topics, including the controversy surrounding late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks, the request from the defense to restrict cameras in the courtroom, and the poignant questions from her daughter about Charlie.
Jesse Watters gently inquired about Erika’s efforts to comfort her daughter, who had been asking about her father’s whereabouts. “You told your children that Charlie was going on a work trip with Jesus. Are they still asking ‘where’s daddy’?” he asked.
In response, Erika revealed, “Yes, my daughter continues to ask, but it’s really sweet. I keep explaining to her a few things. If ever you want to talk to daddy, just look up to the sky and start talking to him. He can hear you. It’s always good. And I told her, ‘Daddy is in heaven.’ She goes, ‘Do you think I could go sometime?’ I said, ‘Baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day.'”
Since Charlie’s assassination, Erika has emphasized her refusal to succumb to fear. With unwavering conviction, she stated, “I’m not afraid, Charlie wasn’t afraid either. We never lived in fear. If we did, we wouldn’t get anything done.” This determination highlights her commitment to carry on Charlie’s legacy.
Later this week, Erika will receive the inaugural Charlie Kirk Legacy Award at the seventh annual Fox Nation Patriot Awards, taking place at The Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York. The award signifies her dedication to continuing her husband’s influential work.
Erika’s life has been largely lived in the spotlight. She has a rich history as Miss Arizona USA and has served as a ministry leader and entrepreneur. Her journey now includes the profound role of a grieving widow while upholding the legacy of TPUSA’s iconic founder.
Erika and Charlie’s love story is one marked by faith and purpose. Their marriage, built on a strong foundation of shared values, represents a union that transcends personal adversity. Following Charlie’s passing, Erika has assumed the responsibility of continuing his work and mission within the community.
The couple’s first meeting in 2018 was a defining moment. Erika reminisced about their
