Jason and Brittany Aldean were prominent figures at the 2025 Patriot Awards, held on November 6 at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York. This event marked the seventh annual ceremony organized by FOX Nation.
During the event, Erika Kirk, the widow of the late Charlie Kirk, received the inaugural Charlie Kirk Legacy Award. The Aldeans presented this prestigious honor to her, alongside FOX News’ Jesse Watters.
After the emotional award presentation, Jason took to the stage to deliver a heartfelt performance of one of his hit songs. He began by sharing his reflections on Charlie Kirk, recognizing the significant impact he had during his life.
“Charlie was one of a kind and will forever be missed,” said Jason, referring to the founder of Turning Point USA. He noted the unfortunate prevalence of violence and division in the nation, highlighting the need for unity.
In a lighthearted moment, Jason added, “I don’t know that Charlie was a big country music fan… he was more of a hip-hop guy from what I hear. But I know he understood where we were coming from with this next song. And it’s an honor to pay tribute to him and his family this evening.”
He then performed his popular song, “Try That in a Small Town,” before gearing up for another performance of “How Far Does a Goodbye Go,” from his latest album.
Prior to the ceremony, Brittany Aldean shared glimpses of her day on social media. She posted a mirror selfie in an all-black leather outfit, complete with wired headphones. Brittany tagged her location as New York City, the venue for the Patriot Awards. In the photo, she held a water bottle and wore sunglasses atop her head.
Additionally, Brittany shared a photo of her breakfast, which featured a glass of white wine next to a cup of green juice. She humorously captioned the image, “Wine/juice kinda morning,” accompanied by a heart emoji.
The Aldeans have publicly mourned the loss of Charlie Kirk, who was tragically shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10. Following his death, Jason and Brittany shared a poignant tribute via social media. They posted a black-and-white video where they sang a Luke Bryan ballad about grief and loss.
Seated on a counter, Jason played the guitar as Brittany stood alongside him. Their heartfelt caption read, “For Charlie,” with a red heart emoji, reflecting their deep respect for Kirk’s legacy.
Brittany took to Instagram after Kirk’s funeral to share her experience with followers. She described the emotional day as “overwhelming” but expressed inspiration from the profound impact Kirk had on people’s lives.
“Yesterday we went to Charlie’s funeral service in Arizona, and it was vastly different than what I anticipated in the sense that it was just so faith-based,” she reflected. The atmosphere resonated with hope, as attendees shared stories celebrating his legacy.
Brittany emphasized the significant influence Kirk had on many, stating, “This feels different. His death does feel like – everyone said in the services – a revival. It’s putting more people in touch with their faith and just making such a difference in so many different lives.”
She thought she would be emotional during the service, equipped with tissues, but instead found the event filled with positivity amidst sorrow. “It was weirdly positive and extremely sad, but it was awe-inspiring to hear stories about him personally and how he’s impacted so many lives,” she noted.
Brittany concluded her posts by expressing an intention to embody the spirit of Charlie Kirk in her daily life. Her sentiment, “They keep saying live like Charlie, so I’m going to really try to do that daily,” resonated with many of her followers.
On September 11, Jason honored Charlie Kirk during a concert in Detroit, Michigan. He paused during the performance to speak about Kirk’s legacy, sharing his personal connection with him.
“An amazing person by the name of Charlie Kirk was murdered yesterday in Utah,” he told the audience. Jason’s heartfelt remarks were met with cheers, illustrating the deep respect the crowd held for Kirk.
“This is not the guy you go after, is what I’m trying to say. It’s a weird country that we live in when you start taking people out because you disagree with their opinions,” Jason continued, emphasizing the need for respect and understanding in American discourse.
In a powerful conclusion, he stated, “Charlie is a guy that’s going to be very, very much missed, and his legacy will live on forever with Turning Point USA and the incredible impact he made in his 31 years on this planet.” With that, Jason once again performed “Try That in a Small Town” in tribute.
The tribute to Charlie Kirk at the FOX Nation Patriot Awards underscored not only the depth of personal loss but also the enduring impact one individual can have on a community. Both Jason and Brittany Aldean’s heartfelt acknowledgments of Kirk’s legacy demonstrate how far-reaching a person’s influence can be, inspiring others to continue living with purpose and faith.
