In response to the controversies surrounding the poster, Orange County Public Schools issued a statement reaffirming its policy decisions. The district maintained that the removal request adhered to board policy and was in line with a memo from the Florida Commissioner of Education. This memo warns that educators’ public expression of personal beliefs might erode trust, and if it alienates students or families, it could violate applicable rules.

As of now, the district has not publically responded to follow-up inquiries regarding the situation.
