President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, praising her leadership as nationwide protests against immigration enforcement escalate. During a post on Truth Social, Trump described Noem’s handling of her responsibilities as exemplary, asserting that she’s done a “great job” during these challenging times.
In his lengthy social media statement, Trump accused activists associated with the “radical left” of attempting to undermine Noem. He highlighted what he referred to as significant progress in border security and public safety achieved during his presidency. Trump stated, “The Radical Left Lunatics, Insurrectionists, Agitators, and Thugs are going after Kristi Noem because she is a woman and has done a really GREAT JOB!”
He continued, mentioning that the situation at the border, which he claims was a disaster when he took office, has significantly improved. According to Trump, the violent criminals who exploited the former administration’s border policies are now largely targeted for removal. He also noted that the murder rate has dropped to its lowest in 125 years, underscoring what he believes to be historic progress.
In a separate post, Trump praised border czar Tom Homan for his effective leadership. Homan’s recent assignment to Minneapolis, replacing Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino, was highlighted as a move meant to fortify the state’s immigration enforcement. Trump suggested that Bovino had not sufficiently managed the immigration crackdown.
As Noem combats increasing criticism, particularly following the tragic fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good during federal immigration operations in Minneapolis, calls for her resignation have grown louder. Prominent Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have expressed intent to pursue impeachment actions against Noem unless she is removed from her position.
The calls for Noem’s ouster are not limited to Democratic circles. Republican Senators Thom Tillis and Lisa Murkowski have also voiced their concerns regarding her leadership. This bipartisan criticism highlights the contentious nature of immigration policy enforcement in the current political climate.
