EXCLUSIVE: A former Democrat fundraiser and political strategist is shedding light on her recent departure from the party, stating that she did not intend to leave but felt she had no choice. Lindy Li, who actively fundraised for Democrats in the 2024 presidential election, described her exit as an escape from a ‘cult’ atmosphere within the Democratic National Committee.
‘I’m the only one from the campaign telling the truth,’ Li asserted during an interview with Fox News Digital. ‘DNC leadership responded to my inquiries with deeply personal attacks. I had no choice but to leave the cult and am finally free to return to my roots as a conservative.’
Notably, media personality Piers Morgan expressed confusion over a social media post from Li in which she appeared with Vice President Kamala Harris and proclaimed she had already voted for Harris in Pennsylvania. Morgan highlighted his bewilderment in a post on X, wondering about the discrepancy between Li’s past statements and her recent online activity.
‘I’m confused. On Monday, you told me you didn’t vote for Kamala in the 2024 election. But you posted this on your X account on October 3. Though oddly, you have now deleted it overnight. What’s going on?’ Morgan questioned.
In response to Morgan’s inquiries, Li explained that, as a surrogate for the Harris campaign, she was reluctant to disclose her voting choice to avoid causing harm to Harris’s candidacy. She emphasized that she felt a duty to ‘see the campaign through,’ despite her personal reservations.
‘As a public-facing surrogate of the campaign and a member of the team, I had a responsibility to see the campaign through, despite my personal objections — supporting Harris through Election Day was the right thing to do,’ Li said.
Li clarified that her departure from the Democratic Party was not a choice she made lightly. ‘I didn’t leave the DNC. They pushed me out for simply asking for accountability for how the billions of dollars were spent,’ she stated. This assertion underlines her feeling of being ostracized for her candid criticism of the party’s leadership and its policies.
Describing her decision as the culmination of a decade-long journey, Li stated, ‘It took a while for me to get here over the course of the past year. I just realized that the values of the Democratic Party are so incongruous to mine.’ She expressed that the party’s current direction, including stances on issues like open borders and diversity, equity, and inclusion, starkly contrasts her beliefs.
Li acknowledged that the transition was challenging but felt it was necessary for her integrity. ‘It’s just not my party anymore,’ she concluded, emphasizing that her convictions no longer aligned with the Democratic ideology.
Furthermore, she revealed her plans to engage in fundraising efforts for the Republican Party as the 2026 midterms approach. ‘No one is contradicting me on the facts; they are coming after me as a person,’ Li articulated as she looked ahead to her new political endeavors.
Looking back at her experiences, Li’s story reflects a broader narrative within the Democratic Party, particularly regarding internal disagreements and the pressure to conform to leadership expectations. The Democratic National Committee’s response to dissenting voices has drawn criticism, with some operatives expressing concern over the party’s failure to address challenges within its ranks. This situation raises questions about the future of the party as it navigates its identity and strategy leading into the 2024 elections and beyond.
Fox News Digital reached out to the DNC for comment on Li’s claims but has not yet received a response. The ongoing dialogue about party unity and individual accountability continues to shape the landscape of American politics.
