UFC Fighter Natan Levy Advocates Against Antisemitism at Self-Defense Seminar Amid Hostage Crisis

Israeli UFC fighter Natan Levy made a profound statement by conducting a self-defense seminar, coinciding with the 500th day of hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza. The event took place in New York City, where Levy emphasized the importance of community resilience in the face of rising antisemitism.

Speaking to Fox News Digital prior to the seminar, Levy commented on the increase of antisemitism since the onset of the recent conflicts. He underscored the significance of mobilizing support within the Jewish community, especially as the 500-day milestone of the hostage situation approaches.

Levy expressed his deep hope for the safe return of all hostages held by Hamas. His commitment to the cause extended to training individuals affected by the ongoing crisis, including former Hamas hostage Andre Kozlov. Levy described this experience as both humbling and meaningful.

While antisemitism has surged, Levy urges the Jewish community to stand strong. He passionately stated, “Jews are not the ones to be messed with. We’re not your punching bag.” His sentiment is aimed at fostering resilience among Jewish individuals and communities.

Empowering the Community Through Self-Defense

The self-defense seminars Levy conducts are primarily designed for the Jewish community. However, he welcomes anyone who feels targeted or bullied to participate. This inclusive approach showcases his dedication to empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds.

On February 17, Levy engaged with students of various ages at the Renzo Gracie Rockland gym. He taught practical self-defense techniques while addressing common mistakes that rookies typically make.

The Mission of StandStrong

StandStrong, an organization founded in 2020, aligns with Levy’s mission to battle antisemitism and empower Jewish students on college campuses. The organization was born from alarming statistics indicating that a significant percentage of Jewish college students have felt the need to hide their identity.

Ted Schwartz, the founder of StandStrong, articulates the organization’s vision of uniting both Jewish and non-Jewish students to collectively combat hate and terror. The mission emphasizes the promotion of identity pride and self-defense skills.

Building Authentic Partnerships

When discussing StandStrong’s partnership with Levy, Executive Director Matt Travers revealed that their collaboration developed organically through social media interactions. Travers highlighted how Levy’s actions and message resonated deeply with the organization and its mission.

Travers praised Levy’s dynamic teaching style, noting the excitement he brings to the class. This enthusiasm not only inspires students but also demonstrates that someone at the highest levels of martial arts champions the values of strength and pride for the Jewish community.

Rising Antisemitism: A National Concern

The urgency of Levy’s seminars is amplified by data from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). On the eve of the one-year anniversary of Hamas’ attacks on Israel, the organization reported the highest number of antisemitic incidents since it began monitoring such cases in 1979.

From October 7, 2023, to September 24, 2024, the ADL recorded over 10,000 antisemitic incidents across the United States. This alarming statistic included more than 8,015 incidents classified as verbal or written harassment, alongside over 150 recorded physical assaults.

Making a Difference Together

As the community grapples with the challenges posed by escalating antisemitism, Levy’s initiatives reflect a powerful stance in advocating for unity, self-defense, and resilience. His seminars represent a vital resource for those seeking to reclaim their sense of security and identity in these trying times.

Through Levy’s efforts, participants are not only learning self-defense techniques but are also reminded of the importance of standing together against hatred. Levy’s vision goes beyond self-defense; it seeks to empower individuals, fostering a collective spirit of strength and pride within the Jewish community and beyond.

The path forward requires continued awareness and solidarity. Both Levy and organizations like StandStrong are instrumental in creating supportive environments where individuals can thrive, sharing a collective fight against the forces of hate.
