Working in collaboration with the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, the Department of Defense aims to trim unnecessary expenditures. DOD spokesperson Sean Parnell shared insights through a video posted on social media, outlining the agency’s findings and proposals for optimization.

“This stuff is just not a core function of our military,” Parnell explained. “This is not what we do. This stuff is a distraction from our core mission.” He expressed confidence that the initial findings could lead to substantial financial savings for the agency.

To facilitate the reduction of spending, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has instructed the DOD’s civilian personnel to engage with Musk’s productivity initiative.
