The event took place on a Tuesday night, where Trump recognized her efforts in opposing what he described as transgender ideology, labeling it a “form of child abuse.”
During his address, Trump expressed his administration’s commitment to protecting children from harmful ideologies prevalent in schools. He recounted a troubling incident involving Littlejohn’s family, where staff members at their daughter’s school secretly facilitated her social transition, without the knowledge of her parents. This action, Trump asserted, showcased the need for stricter regulations in education to safeguard children’s welfare.
He stated, “A few years ago, January Littlejohn and her husband discovered that their daughter’s school had secretly socially transitioned their 13-year-old little girl. Teachers and administrators conspired to deceive January and her husband while encouraging her daughter to use a new name and pronouns—specifically, they/them pronouns—without their consent.”
In light of such incidents, Trump highlighted his recent executive order aimed at banning public schools from imparting transgender ideology to students. This policy has sparked debate and concern among parents and advocates alike, pointing to the broader implications on children’s rights and parental authority.
The president urged Congress to enact legislation that would permanently prohibit and criminalize sex change procedures for minors, aiming to address what he described as a societal falsehood regarding gender identity. In her conversation with Fox News Digital, she said, “I would just like to thank him and continue to speak truth that there are two sexes, male or female, and no matter what one does to their body, that can never change. Sex is binary.”
Littlejohn detailed the struggles her family endured, highlighting the pressures placed on children during their formative years. She stressed the importance of recognizing the potentially harmful effects of social transitions and how these can lead to medical interventions. In her view, early social transition can confuse children and hinder their ability to understand their own identities.
She elaborated on her daughter’s experience, who, at age 13, became engrossed in discussions about gender identity among her peers. Littlejohn recalled how the school intervened, implementing a social transition plan behind closed doors without parental involvement. This included discussions about restroom usage and accommodations during school trips, decisions made without her or her husband’s consent.
She expressed concern over the school’s approach, stating, “They put the burden on her as to whether or not my parental rights would be honored by deciding she was the sole decision maker as to whether or not my husband and I would be notified of the meeting.”
Upon inquiring about the meeting, Littlejohn reported being met with resistance from school officials, who cited nondiscrimination laws as a means to restrict her access to information regarding her child. This left the family feeling sidelined during a critical time in their daughter’s life.
Despite the challenges, Littlejohn reflected on her daughter’s journey of self-discovery, revealing that she has since reconciled her feelings regarding gender confusion. However, she lamented the detrimental effects the school’s actions had on their family dynamic, noting that these experiences created significant barriers that took years to mend.
“If you give these children the gift of time, if you allow them to go through their natural puberty, the vast majority of these kids will resolve their distress naturally, just like my daughter did,” she remarked. “My daughter is a shining example of that, although she still does grieve the time that she lost, years that she lost, dedicated to the lie of this ideology to become something that she could never become. So that part is really tragic.”
Littlejohn expressed her honor in representing not just her family but also countless others who have faced similar experiences concerning gender identity ideology. She remarked, “I felt the weight of not just representing my family and what we’ve been through but of all families who have been harmed by this gender identity ideology. And it’s still happening. I get phone calls weekly from parents whose children are being seduced by the false idea that they were born in the wrong body.”
Though the event left her with a sense of hope, Littlejohn is acutely aware that executive orders alone cannot rectify the pervasive influence of gender identity ideology across various institutions, including educational settings. She highlighted the alarming presence of over 21,000 school districts that reportedly have secret social transition plans for students.
Littlejohn articulated her concerns, stating, “It’s really sad because these children, this identity crisis is being forced on them. It’s creating confusion where no previous confusion would have existed. But the bottom line is that we have truth and reality on our side. And I’m very grateful that we are moving in the right direction.”
