Democratic Disarray Unveiled: A Night of Outrage and Disruption

How should our children behave in public gatherings? This question resonates with anyone who has sat through a school assembly.

During those formative years, students gathered on bleachers, engaging in a mixture of serious discussions and lighthearted activities. Assemblies featured a range of presentations, from awards to skits and earnest appeals to promote responsible behavior. While rallies preceding significant sporting events drew excitement, overall civility remained the standard. Even during my time at a Catholic high school, we adhered to a strict code of conduct that mirrored that of our public peers.

My own children experienced similar expectations at their school events. Attending their high school gatherings was mandatory only for orientation sessions regarding California’s high school athletic rules. Although these sessions lacked excitement, they were straightforward and required attendance from parents and aspiring student-athletes alike.

Reflecting on the assemblies from grades nine to twelve, I can confidently assert that none approached the spectacle showcased during the recent address by President Trump to the Joint Session of Congress.

Past gatherings have included embarrassing moments, notably when Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously tore up Trump’s State of the Union address in February 2020. However, nothing prepared us for the chaos witnessed this past Tuesday.

Democrats find themselves unable to adjust to Trump’s presence in American politics. His unconventional approach has left them emotionally fractured, leading to reactions that often veer away from rational discourse. The toll this political climate has taken is evident, as many within the party seem incapable of processing their feelings, let alone seeking help.
