Konanki was last seen during the early hours of March 6, heading toward the beach at the luxurious Riu Republica resort.
Witnesses confirmed that all others who accompanied her to the beach have been accounted for, raising concerns and questions about her sudden absence.

The morning of Konanki’s disappearance presented swells measuring between 4 and 6 feet from the north and east. Subsequently, these swells shifted towards the east and south, suggesting that anyone caught in a rip current could be carried far beyond initial expectations.

The group had been socializing at a hotel bar prior to their trip to the beach.
Several members of the group returned to the hotel around 6 a.m., but Konanki did not. A few hours later, the man person of interest returned alone, raising further questions about her sudden disappearance.
Friends reported her missing around 4 p.m., prompting a more organized effort to locate her. Law enforcement agencies have mobilized resources including boats, dive teams, and helicopters. The FBI has also become involved, providing additional support to local authorities. The sheriff from her Virginia hometown has dispatched two detectives to aid in the investigation.
