Moreover, Tillis’ office in Greenville, North Carolina, received a handwritten letter last month, which was unsigned and postmarked from Greensboro. In this letter, the anonymous author labeled staff members as “sacrificial lambs” and warned that they had “signed up to be his shield.” Although the writer insisted that their communication was not a threat, the message ominously suggested that individuals filled with rage might soon resort to physical action.
