A California man, known for his cross-dressing on social media, has been arrested in South Carolina for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting an elderly woman. Enver Marius Zueros, 34, faces serious charges including first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and attempted murder related to the extortion of an 89-year-old woman.
During a press conference, Summerville Police Chief Doug Wright made a bold statement about Zueros’ fate. He expressed confidence that Zueros would receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole, saying, “This man will not see the light of day. He will spend the rest of his natural life in prison.”
Authorities detailed the harrowing circumstances surrounding the kidnapping. The elderly victim was discovered with her wrists bound with duct tape, a dog leash securing her ankles, and a bag covering her head. This disturbing scene underscores the level of violence involved in the crime.
According to reports from WCIV-TV, Zueros had maintained a distant online connection with the victim’s brother. The woman had been providing financial assistance to Zueros through text messages and emails, which may have factored into his motives.
Police stated that Zueros was upset when the elderly woman began donating her funds to charitable organizations instead of providing support to him. In an attempt to carry out his plan, he reportedly rented an Airbnb in close proximity to the victim’s residence.
Chief Wright emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime, declaring, “This wasn’t random. He knew exactly who he was targeting and had a plan in place. Authorities soon located the vehicle, only to discover the victim restrained and hidden beneath the rear folding seats in the car’s floorboard. Zueros was subsequently apprehended, and the victim fortunately sustained only minor injuries, according to Chief Wright.
Zueros now finds himself in jail following his arrest, having been denied bond due to the serious nature of his charges.
