Justice Department Launches Task Force Against Hamas Following Deadly October Attack

The Justice Department is intensifying its efforts against the Palestinian militant group Hamas with the establishment of a new task force. This initiative aims to deliver justice to the victims of the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, which resulted in a tragic loss of life and numerous hostages.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents apprehended Khalil, a Palestinian who was raised in Syria and holds permanent U.S. residency, on March 9.

The Department of Homeland Security claimed that Khalil led activities supportive of Hamas, which has been designated as a terrorist organization. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the administration would pursue the revocation of green cards for any individuals found to be Hamas supporters in the United States, which includes possible deportations.

White House officials revealed that the Justice Department, alongside the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department, is conducting a comprehensive investigation into Khalil, assessing him as a potential national security threat.
