Camilla Row, the wife of Hallmark star Brennan Elliott, passed away at the age of 45 after a courageous fight against stage 4 gastric cancer. Elliott, 49, shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram account, expressing profound grief and gratitude for the support they received during her illness.
In an emotional post, he wrote, “There is no easy way to say this but I know my wife @camilla_row would have wanted me to thank every person from all over the world who prayed for her over the last eight years she suffered immeasurably trying to survive and live with stage 4 gastric cancer.” The caption accompanied a touching photo of Row smiling on a beach, drink in hand.
Brennan continued, “It is with a soul-crushing, devastated heart that my beloved wife Cami passed away at 5:28 this morning. Our babies and I lost our rock, a person who not only was the love of my life, my soulmate, my best friend and lover but the toughest, strongest, fearless person I have ever met in my life and the greatest mother to her babies.”
Row, a licensed clinical psychologist, and Elliott married in 2011, sharing two children: Liam and Luna. Throughout her illness, Row became an advocate for gastric cancer awareness and support, determined to share her story with others in similar situations.
In January, Camilla Row provided her followers with an update on her health via her private Instagram account. She wrote about taking life one day at a time while expressing gratitude for the gift of life: “One day at a time, and I know God has a plan for me. A series of surgeries and hospitalizations have left me weak and out of treatment, but I am thankful every day for each second of life.”
Row was first diagnosed with stage 1 stomach cancer in 2018 after suffering from persistent reflux pain for two years. “Everyone said I was so lucky to have caught it early. All the doctors said, ‘We can cure you.’ So I went straight to surgery to remove my stomach, along with 47 lymph nodes.” This initial optimism was soon overshadowed when, in 2021, further tests discovered tumors in her ovaries that were traced back to her stomach cancer.
“I went from a stage 1 survivor to a stage 4 patient overnight. It was a lot to process. A lot of the data was suggesting that I had months to live. But I was not ready to die,” she recalled in an interview. Despite the devastating prognosis, Row refused to let her diagnosis define her, turning her focus toward advocacy and support for others battling cancer.
Initially, Row kept her full condition private, wanting to shield Elliott’s career from scrutiny and fear. However, after reaching stage 4, she felt a duty to share her experience, explaining, “When I was diagnosed stage 4, I felt a real duty to become an advocate for other stomach cancer patients. And I had to be an advocate for myself.”
Row’s journey did not only revolve around her own battle but also aimed to inspire and support fellow cancer patients. She became actively involved in leading support groups, helping others find their voice: “What’s helped me cope is giving back to the stomach cancer community—letting people know that you have to speak up for yourself and empower yourself with information. To know that I’m making some sort of difference makes the cancer part suck a little less.”
In April 2022, Brennan Elliott publicly discussed his wife’s ongoing struggles with cancer, writing, “Those closest to me know that my wife Cami has had several bouts with cancer in the past, but now she embarks on a new journey as a Stage IV metastatic gastric cancer patient.” He acknowledged Camilla’s unwavering strength and bravery faced with such a formidable adversary.
Elliott expressed his admiration for Row, saying, “There is no one I consider braver, stronger, more fearless even when faced with a sinister opponent who never plays fair. As you all know me to be a very private person, this feels scary and exposing, but if there is any hope that her story can help even one person, then her cancer experience was not done in vain.”
The love shared between Brennan and Camilla was evident in his heartfelt tribute after her passing. He reflected on their time together, writing, “What you did for the gastric cancer community was immeasurable, but what you did for me as a man will last forever. For any of you who met or knew her, your life was blessed because of her presence.”
Elliott also expressed his emotions with a poignant message: “I love and am in love and will always be in love with you my baby! I know you are dancing and are on vacation in heaven and free from the grips of cancer. When the Lord calls me, and it’s my time, I will see you in heaven, and we will start dancing again!”
This tragic loss resonates not only within their family but also in the hearts of many who admired Camilla’s strength and spirit. Brennan’s tribute stands as a testament to their enduring love and the impact she made on those around her.
Camilla Row’s battle with cancer was a testament to her resilience, advocacy, and love. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered not only as a devoted mother and wife but also as a fierce advocate for the gastric cancer community. Her legacy encourages all to fight bravely and seek support, bringing light to a challenging journey.
While the loss is profound, the love Brennan Elliott and Camilla Row shared remains a source of strength and inspiration for countless individuals dealing with cancer and its ramifications.
