Tune in for Part 2 of the Elon Musk interview on Special Report airing Friday at 6 p.m. ET on Fox News Channel.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is taking a strong stance against what he perceives as a rising tide of violence directed at Tesla owners. He holds left-wing narratives responsible for inciting these aggressive acts.
During an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier on Special Report, Musk emphasized that the problem is rooted not merely in individual actions but in the broader media narratives that vilify Tesla.
Musk declared, “The real problem is not the people. It’s not like the crazy guy that firebombs a Tesla dealership. It’s the people pushing the propaganda that cause that guy to do it. Those are the real villains here.”
The Tesla CEO pointed out that the uptick in vandalism against Tesla vehicles and properties correlates with criticism aimed at his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. This federal agency has been responsible for significant funding reductions in government programs and a decrease in federal employment.
Musk noted that language from Democratic leaders, particularly those opposed to DOGE, has incited hostility towards Tesla and its advocates. He remarked, “They are being fed propaganda by the far left and they believe it.”
Recent reports indicate a surge in Tesla-related incidents, including minor vandalism like keying and graffiti, alongside more severe events such as arson and targeted shootings against Tesla vehicles.
Musk expressed, “Tesla is a peaceful company that has made great cars, great products. That’s all it’s done. It hasn’t harmed anyone. And yet people are committing violence.”
He detailed incidents such as firebombing at Tesla dealerships, gunfire directed at stores, and threats against Tesla employees, including death threats against himself and others in leadership positions.
In light of these violent actions, the FBI announced a task force aimed at investigating the pattern of aggression against Tesla owners. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that these incidents are being categorized as domestic terrorism.
Musk also mentioned that his administration has taken a stance on the issue. He stated that the Trump administration committed to addressing the violence, saying, “The president has made it clear: We’re going after them. The ones providing the money, the ones pushing the lies and propaganda. We’re going after them.”
When probed about his continuation in the DOGE role despite ongoing backlash, Musk likened his experiences to those faced by former President Donald Trump. He referenced the derogatory labels directed at Trump as a means of delegitimization.
“I got the normal playbook,” Musk asserted, pointing out the unsubstantiated allegations against Trump, including claims describing him as a Nazi. Musk conveyed discontent with the narratives that can dehumanize individuals and undermine their motives.
He recalled instances where extreme comparisons, such as those deeming political figures worse than historical tyrants, were used against Trump, stating, “The president hasn’t killed anyone. He hasn’t started any wars. In fact, he’s good at stopping wars.”
Musk articulated that this kind of extreme language is part of a calculated strategy to derail both his and Trump’s initiatives.
He concluded with a call for accountability, asking, “Why do they push these lies? I think we need to hold people responsible for pushing these lies, because those lies almost got the president killed.”
