Trump Administration Orders Deportation of Nearly 1 Million Migrants Who Used CBP One App

Trump Administration Issues Deportation Orders for Migrants Using CBP One App

Migrants who entered the United States through the Biden administration’s CBP One application have faced significant legal setbacks as their parole protections have been revoked. They now face immediate deportation or a potential permanent ban on reentry.

The CBP One app played a crucial role for nearly 1 million migrants, enabling them to schedule appointments at official ports of entry. This system allowed applicants to seek asylum and secure temporary work authorization for a two-year period while awaiting the outcomes of their immigration proceedings.

On his first day in office, Trump ended the use of the CBP One app, which had facilitated the parole of migrants. The administration has since paused applications for various parole programs, and allowed the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, known as ICE, to terminate the parole statuses of numerous migrants.

The Trump administration has begun notifying individuals who utilized the CBP One app, informing them that their legal status has been annulled. A report by CBS News reveals that a message from the Department of Homeland Security has been sent to these migrants.

The content of the notification is quite clear: “If you do not depart the United States immediately, you will be subject to potential law enforcement actions that may result in your removal from the United States unless you have otherwise obtained a lawful basis to remain here,” the message states.

Moreover, the communication urges migrants to take advantage of self-deportation options through the CBP One app, which has recently been rebranded as CBP Home.

The message further emphasizes, “Again, DHS is terminating your parole. Do not attempt to remain in the United States — the federal government will find you. Please depart the United States immediately.” This stern warning reinforces the administration’s intensified immigration enforcement policies.

CBS News has verified this message through a source at DHS. While Fox News Digital reached out to confirm this information, the DHS did not respond immediately.

More Than 936,000 Migrants Admitted Under Biden’s Program

The CBP One app was introduced in January 2023 and has facilitated the admission of over 936,500 migrants through December 2024, according to reports citing DHS data. This significant influx highlights the scale of the program’s impact during the Biden administration.

New Measures and Restrictions Under Trump Administration

The Trump administration continues to roll out new measures affecting immigration. According to the latest reports, the administration has conveyed that affected individuals are encouraged to voluntarily self-deport using the CBP Home App. “Those who refuse will be found, removed, and permanently barred from reentry,” warned a spokesperson from DHS.

Under Biden’s tenure, the CBP One app underwent several expansions, allowing migrants to enter the U.S. either at designated ports of entry or through other avenues that involved uploading personal information and photographs.

Additionally, the Biden administration permitted the use of the app for air travel, giving migrants a chance to verify their identity at airports through biometric matching with DHS records. However, this program faced scrutiny and controversy.

Recently, restrictions were imposed, with an announcement from Governor Kristi Noem stating the end of the CBP One app for domestic flights unless utilized for self-deportation purposes. This decision sharply limits options for many migrants previously accommodated by the app.

Temporary Protected Status Under Fire

In a related issue, the administration has also revoked extensions of Temporary Protected Status for specific nationalities, including more than 600,000 Venezuelans. This program provides vital protection from deportation and allows work permits for nationals from countries considered unsafe for repatriation. Under the Biden administration’s final days, former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had extended these protections for several countries, including Venezuela, El Salvador, Sudan, and Ukraine, by an additional 18 months.

The Trump administration’s attempts to terminate Temporary Protected Status have faced legal challenges, delaying enforcement of this policy.

A New Chapter in U.S. Immigration Policy

The recent developments indicate a drastic shift in U.S. immigration policy as the Trump administration implements stricter measures. The ramifications of these changes affect countless migrants who had relied on the protections established under the prior administration.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, advocates for migrants and lawmakers are likely to push back against these stringent regulations. The CBP One app, once a beacon of hope for many migrants, has now become a tool for enforcement, illustrating the complexities and challenges within the U.S. immigration system.

As the situation unfolds, stakeholders from various sides of the immigration debate are expected to engage more deeply in discussions about human rights and the effectiveness of current policies. The implications of these changes will resonate widely within communities and among those navigating the intricate web of U.S. immigration law.
