Among the victims identified were five members of the same family: Agustin Escobar, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children. A 36-year-old pilot also tragically lost his life in the crash.

The representative also sent heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this devastating incident. Malliotakis argued that, to prevent such tragedies in the future, substantial regulatory changes must be made regarding tourist helicopter operations in New York City.

“To prevent another tragedy, these tourist helicopter flights over NYC must be more heavily regulated and restricted, if not come to an end entirely,” she added, underlining the urgent need for reform.
