President Trump Highlights Key Achievements During First 100 Days in Office

Nearing the end of his initial 100 days in office, President Donald Trump showcased the accomplishments of his administration in an exclusive interview with Fox Noticias. This discussion took place on a Tuesday and focused on various key issues, including tariffs and border security.

Border Security Remains a Top Priority

During the interview, Fox News’ Rachel Campos-Duffy asked Trump to identify what he considered his most significant achievement since re-entering the Oval Office. The president pointed to his administration’s efforts in addressing the ongoing border crisis.

“I think the thing that people now realize is the border is 100%. It’s literally perfect now, and I don’t know if you can tell. Perfect. But it’s going to get better. And by the way, we want people to come in, but they have to come in legally, and everybody agrees to that,” Trump stated.

The emphasis on securing the border was one of Trump’s primary campaign promises. Since his inauguration, the number of illegal border crossings has shown a consistent decline.

Recent Reports Indicate Significant Declines in Border Crossings

A recent report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed noteworthy data regarding apprehensions at the southern border. It indicated that fewer apprehensions occurred in March compared to the first two days of that month in 2024 under the Biden administration.

This report marks the second consecutive month in which U.S. Border Patrol recorded its lowest daily apprehension averages in history. As a result, it suggests a major shift in border control policies that aligns with the administration’s goals.

Economic Success and Tariff Policy

Beyond border security, President Trump expressed pride in the economic achievements of his administration, notably the implementation of tariff policies. “We are making tremendous amounts of money, taking in billions and billions—hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs from other countries that for many, many decades just ripped off the United States. And it’s time that we no longer allow that to happen,” he told Campos-Duffy.

Earlier this month, Trump introduced a new tariff plan during what he referred to as ‘Liberation Day.’ Since April 2, his administration has initiated a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs for countries keen to negotiate trade deals, while increasing tariffs on China.

Congressional Efforts on Economic Legislation

In his conversation with Campos-Duffy, Trump highlighted several accomplishments he feels proud of, including the collaboration with Congress on the so-called ‘Big, Beautiful Bill.’ This bipartisan legislation aims to include measures for tax cuts and regulatory rollbacks aimed at stimulating economic growth.

Implications for the Future

As President Trump’s first 100 days come to a close, the administration’s accomplishments will likely shape public perceptions going forward. Border security remains a contentious issue that could influence future electoral prospects. At the same time, Trump’s economic strategy, particularly regarding tariffs, presents potential long-term benefits for American industries.

Though some remain skeptical about the administration’s impact on critical issues, Trump’s focus on these policies indicates a commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. Observers will continue to watch how these initiatives evolve as he moves into the next phase of his presidency.
