Chrissy Metz Embraces New Life in Nashville, Credits Faith for Transformative Move

Actress Chrissy Metz, best known for her role in the acclaimed series “This is Us,” recently reflected on her life-changing decision to relocate from Los Angeles to Nashville. Metz attributes her newfound happiness and successful entry into the music industry to divine guidance and a strong connection with her faith.

A Serendipitous Encounter

During a pivotal period of transition, Metz engaged in a conversation with a physician associated with Kelly Clarkson. This unexpected meeting proved to be a turning point. The doctor told Metz, “You don’t know me, but God literally told me to ask you about music.” Surprised yet intrigued, Metz responded, “Wait, what?” This moment marked the beginning of her journey towards a career in music.

The actress described how the conversation progressed. The doctor inquired about her interest in songwriting and singing, to which Metz eagerly affirmed, “Music was my first love.” He then extended an invitation for her to join him in Nashville for songwriting sessions, leaving her feeling thankful and recipient of divine intervention.

A Return to Familiar Roots

Although Metz has spent an extensive amount of time in Hollywood, her roots trace back to Florida. “The South is very familiar to me,” she noted, adding that her family spent eight months there during the pandemic.

In Nashville, she discovered a comforting atmosphere that was absent in Los Angeles. Metz described the vibrant community where one can indulge in excellent cuisine, enjoy multiple entertainment options, and pursue creative endeavors within mere minutes. “It’s such a special place, and it feels very communal,” she shared.

Quality of Life and Daily Convenience

Nonetheless, Metz maintains a residence in Los Angeles and often finds herself navigating between the two cities. Friends in L.A. often express curiosity about her life choices. She remarked, “I don’t know that I’ll ever completely give that up, but from what I’m doing now, I am so happy here.”

The stark difference between daily routines in L.A. and Nashville has further solidified her preference for the latter. Running errands in Los Angeles often entails spending hours in traffic, whereas Metz found her rides in Nashville taking a mere seven minutes.

“I hate to say ‘quality of life’ because spending time in traffic is simply the opposite of that,” Metz explained. She reflected on the potential for enhanced productivity if not confined to a vehicle for long stretches. Her current phase in Nashville, she asserts, offers her comfort and the ability to thrive.

Venturing into Children’s Literature

In addition to pursuing music, Metz has ventured into writing children’s literature. She recently published a book titled “When I Talk to God I Talk About Feelings,” a follow-up to her earlier work. This new project stemmed from her experiences communicating with children during readings and discussions about emotions.

Reflecting on her childhood, Metz revealed, “I didn’t really feel seen or heard as a kid.” She passionately advocates for emotional recognition among children and aims to foster environments where feelings are validated. Her objective is to nurture understanding and connection through her writing.

Encouraging Conversations about Feelings

Metz believes that promoting dialogue surrounding emotions can create profound impacts. She emphasized, “If you really listen, you can hear what a person is really saying,” describing the essence of authentic communication.

Her hope is that her children’s book inspires conversations between readers and listeners, allowing both to navigate the complex landscape of emotional expression, which begins early in life.

A Daily Practice of Prayer

Prayer is an integral aspect of Metz’s daily routine. She prayed throughout the day, whether before important meetings or in moments when she encountered individuals in need, such as during emergencies. This practice reflects her connection with a higher power and a commitment to nurturing a positive mindset.

“I start every day with gratitude, and then I just continue through the day,” Metz shared. She believes in spreading positivity and often incorporates prayer into her interactions with friends and strangers alike.

Finding Fulfillment in Nashville

As Metz continues her new chapter in Nashville, she embraces a lifestyle that empowers her to be creative and grounded. Her reflections on faith, community, and emotional well-being resonate with many, showcasing her dedication to both personal and professional growth.

Through her artistic pursuits and her commitment to spread love and understanding, Metz hopes to leave a lasting impact on those around her. Her story is a powerful reminder of the influence of faith and the beauty of following one’s passion, no matter where it may lead.

Metz’s book, “When I Talk to God I Talk About Feelings,” is now available, aiming to foster connection and understanding among readers.
