How Country Music Star Alana Springsteen Found Inspiration and Learning from Keith Urban

Alana Springsteen is gearing up to embark on a tour alongside Keith Urban, an artist who changed her life in ways he may never fully realize. As she prepares for this monumental opportunity, she reflects on how Urban has been a profound influence on her musical journey.

During her debut at the Stagecoach Festival, Springsteen shared her admiration for Urban, stating, “Keith is one of those guys that I’ve looked up to for so long.” She recalled that he played a significant role in shaping her music career by indirectly teaching her to play guitar when she was just nine years old.

“I remember having his records on repeat, trying to learn those licks, those riffs. I was just obsessed with his songwriting, obsessed with everything he does. So to be on tour with him is incredibly special,” Springsteen expressed.

First Encounters and Special Moments

The 24-year-old artist first met Urban at a concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, which was followed by another encounter at Summerfest in Milwaukee. “He actually asked me to come up and sing ‘We Were Us’ with him, which was the first time we really connected. That moment was so special to me,” she recalled.

Springsteen has cherished the experience of performing iconic songs. “I love that song. I just hope I did Miranda Lambert proud; it’s so iconic,” she added. Their connection has blossomed since that memorable performance, and she expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to join Urban on his upcoming tour.

Touring with a Country Legend

Springsteen is set to join Urban for his High and Alive World Tour, which kicks off this month. She is eager to learn from him during this exciting journey. “He’s an incredible entertainer, and one of my favorite live shows I’ve ever seen. I just can’t wait to learn from him and have that family experience on the road,” she stated enthusiastically.

Early Inspirations and Songwriting Journey

Springsteen’s admiration for music began early on. At the age of nine, she wrote her first song, coinciding with her discovery of Urban’s music. “It was called ‘Fairy Tale,’” she said. Even as a child, she was captivated by themes of love and romance. While she lacked experience with love and heartbreak, her imagination prompted her to explore these topics through song.

She elaborated on the inspiration behind ‘Fairy Tale’, stating, “It was actually based on my parents’ love story—their meeting and falling in love. Writing that song changed everything for me. It lit a fire inside me to express what I felt, which was tough as a kid in a loud family. I often found solace by journaling or writing in my room, so that outlet became a vital part of my life.”

Debut Album and Personal Growth

Springsteen’s debut album, titled ‘Twenty Something’, was released in 2023 to high praise from both critics and fans. Reflecting on this achievement, she noted, “‘Twenty Something’ was a super personal album. I wanted to peel back those layers and be real with my fans, sharing my journey in recognizing both the mistakes and successes along the way.” She candidly acknowledged that this album was just the beginning.

“I walked away from that project feeling more confident and empowered than ever. Watching the positive changes that followed in my life was incredible,” she said.

Facing Challenges and Embracing Change

However, the album also brought forth challenges. Springsteen noticed that some people in her life did not support her creative growth, prompting her to reflect on her path. “Those experiences raised alarms for me. I knew I had more personal work to do, and this next chapter is dedicated to that journey,” she explained.

As she started writing new music, she focused on healing through her art. “These songs became therapeutic sessions for me. They helped me reach a new emotional depth and vulnerability that I hadn’t accessed before,” Springsteen revealed.

A Dream Come True at Stagecoach

Springsteen was also given the opportunity to perform some of her new material at the renowned Stagecoach Festival, a milestone she had longed for years. “It’s an iconic festival, and performing here in the desert ambiance is unreal. We put in a lot of rehearsals to prepare for it. I am excited to introduce these new songs, which are so important to me as I step into this next phase of my musical journey,” she shared.

Looking Ahead

As Alana Springsteen prepares for a thrilling year ahead on tour with Keith Urban, her story showcases the profound connections artists can create through music. With dreams to inspire and entertain, she continues to evolve, guided by both early influences and personal experiences that shape her artistry.
