Ana Kasparian Criticizes Newsom’s Leadership While Highlighting California’s Struggles

Ana Kasparian, co-host of ‘The Young Turks’, has voiced strong criticisms of Governor Gavin Newsom, stating she cannot take him seriously as a contender for the Democratic presidential nomination until he acknowledges his role in California’s challenges.

Democratic Leadership in Question for 2028 Election

In a recent episode of ‘Her Take’, a podcast produced by Valuetainment Studios, the co-hosts explored the array of potential leaders within the Democratic Party as it prepares for the 2028 election. The party remains divided after President Donald Trump’s significant victory in the 2024 election. This division raises critical questions about the party’s future direction and its policy platforms.

Jillian Michaels Raises Concerns About Newsom

Jillian Michaels, who hails from California, identified Newsom as a leading candidate for the upcoming election, provoking immediate concerns from her fellow co-hosts.

“This guy has tried,” Michaels stated, acknowledging Newsom’s attempts to shift his approach. She noted that he has reached across the political aisle and tried to be critical of his party’s practices.

“He’s worked to counter the notion that everything exists in our silo, showing a willingness to engage with the opposition,” Michaels added, highlighting the governor’s efforts to broaden his appeal.

Kasperian’s Unyielding Critique

Countering these assertions, Kasparian, known for her progressive views, firmly dismissed any notion of supporting Newsom until he takes action regarding what she describes as his failures in leadership. “I will never take that piece of crap seriously,” Kasparian asserted, emphasizing her fierce disappointment with Newsom’s record. “He needs to be accountable for how he destroyed the state of California.”

Accountability Over Party Blame

Kasparian did not just critique the governor’s leadership style but also urged him to evaluate the policies he has championed, which, in her view, have led to the state’s decline.

“Instead of blaming Donald Trump for the loss of jobs in California, Newsom should examine the policies that predate Trump’s presidency,” she said. She highlighted that the challenges in the Californian job market began long before Trump took office, attributing them to Newsom’s own regulations that have driven businesses away.

California’s Rising Crime Rates

Crime rates, according to Kasparian, have surged during Newsom’s tenure as governor. “The rampant crime is undeniable; businesses are shutting down, relocating to states with better conditions,” she stated, pointing out that the escalating costs associated with running a business in California have made it untenable for many.
