Nashville, Tennessee – The Chrisley family is on the cusp of a transformative chapter. Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were sentenced to prison for tax evasion and bank fraud, are now preparing for their return to freedom following a pardon from former President Donald Trump.
The couple, whose reality TV career has garnered them a significant following, has been incarcerated since their June 2022 conviction. With this pardon, the couple’s attorney, Alex Little of Litson PLLC, expressed confidence that the pardon would effectively erase their legal troubles as if they never occurred.
In an exclusive discussion with Fox News Digital, Little remarked, “A pardon like this typically concludes the case entirely. We will examine the specific details of the pardon, but generally, when an individual receives a pardon, their record is cleared. It’s essentially as if the legal issues never existed. Fortunately, Todd and Julie can focus on their future with renewed hope.”
Little emphasized the significance of this case within the historical context of presidential pardons. He stated, “Throughout history, many presidents have rarely utilized their pardon powers. This President, however, interprets his role uniquely, particularly regarding the justice system. Regardless of one’s opinion on this decision, the presidential pardon is indeed a formidable tool. This situation warranted a pardon, and I hope more deserving cases receive similar consideration.”
The Chrisleys have faced considerable challenges since their convictions. In January 2023, Todd was sentenced to 12 years and Julie to seven years behind bars, although their sentences were later reduced. The couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, and son, Chase Chrisley, received a phone call from Trump sharing his intentions regarding their parents’ pardon.
During the call, Trump conveyed both empathy and hope. “It’s a difficult situation, but it’s a wonderful thing. Your parents will be free, and I hope we can finalize this tomorrow. Does that work for you?” The touching exchange showcased Trump’s commitment to the family’s reunion.
Little noted their profound gratitude toward Trump, explaining, “Neither Todd nor Julie could fully believe this would actually happen. Living in uncertainty daily was challenging for them. With the President’s decision now made, they are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be reunited as a family.”
He also highlighted the emotional impact of their prolonged separation, saying, “The immediate priority is to reunite the family. They have a minor child at home, eagerly awaiting their return. Todd and Julie have spent over two years apart and it has been an excruciating ordeal for them.”
Savannah has been a vocal advocate for her parents since their incarceration, reaching out to Trump earlier this year as they worked to overturn their conviction, which had been upheld by a panel of judges last summer. The emotional weight of the phone call was palpable as Savannah expressed her gratitude to Trump for his intervention.
Trump responded with understanding, noting, “They faced severe treatment, from what I gather. Congratulate your parents, and I’m informed they are wonderful people. This should never have transpired.”
Following Trump’s announcement, Savannah excitedly shared her joy via social media while shopping. She posted a video expressing disbelief, exclaiming, “Both of my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow, and I still can’t fathom it’s real!”
Little acknowledged the tremendous role Savannah played in advocating for her parents, stating, “Savannah’s relentless efforts were critical to this outcome. Everyone in such circumstances requires a supportive and dedicated advocate. Todd and Julie owe a great debt of gratitude to her for her unwavering commitment.”
He further praised Savannah’s dedication, emphasizing, “Every parent hopes for a child like Savannah. She has not only assisted in raising her siblings in her parents’ absence but has also devoted significant time to securing their release. Her determination is truly commendable.”
The Chrisley family now looks forward to rebuilding their lives and focusing on the future. The profound impact of the presidential pardon and the love within the Chrisley family sets the stage for a new beginning filled with hope and resilience.
