The police received approval to employ less lethal methods to manage the crowd, emphasizing that these tactics could cause discomfort and pain. LA County Sheriff Robert G. Luna reported that nearly a dozen deputies sustained injuries in the clashes after protesters allegedly threw rocks, Molotov cocktails, and heavy explosives at them. These incidents highlight the volatility of the ongoing protests.

Since the protests began on June 7, the LAPD has made over 500 arrests related to the unrest, a staggering number reflecting the scale of the protests.
