Kelly Stafford, wife of NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford, recently opened up about an unconventional method she uses to enhance her parenting skills. In her latest podcast episode, she discussed her occasional use of THC gummies and how they impact her parenting.
As a mother of four daughters under the age of eight, Kelly expressed the unique challenges that come with raising young children. During her appearance on The Morning After podcast, she revealed, “Gummies are great. Sometimes I feel like gummies make me a better parent. They calm me down. It’s like the glass of wine.” This candid admission highlights the complexity of modern parenting and the search for balance.
Despite the positive effects she claims to experience, Kelly confessed to feeling a bit guilty about her choice. “I feel a little guilty saying it, and it’s not like I do it every night, but sometimes I’m like, ‘S— it has been a long day. I don’t want to rip my hair out or their hair out, so I am going to just top it off with a little gummy,’” she explained.
Her honesty resonates with many parents who find themselves under immense pressure while juggling family responsibilities. In this high-stress environment, it’s not uncommon for parents to seek out ways to cope.
Kelly also emphasized the support she receives from her husband, Matthew. He reassures her that as long as their children are happy, fed, and loved, the approach to parenting is less important than the outcome. “This is what Matthew always tells me. He’s like, ‘As long as they’re in bed, fed, and happy and feel loved, who cares how they get there? Just get them there,’” she reflected.
While Kelly’s approach may be unconventional, it is essential to consider the health implications of using THC products. A recent study conducted by researchers at UC San Francisco revealed that consuming edible cannabis, including gummies, carries similar cardiovascular risks to smoking marijuana for regular users. This research, published in JAMA Cardiology, highlighted potential health concerns that users should be aware of, particularly related to long-term use.
This offseason proved to be a challenging time for the Stafford family, filled with trade speculations and contract negotiations. However, in March, the Rams and Matthew Stafford reached a restructured deal that provided clarity for their future.
Kelly expressed her relief on the podcast, stating,
