Steve Witkoff, the Special Envoy to the Middle East, has called for an immediate investigation into a leaked preliminary U.S. intelligence assessment. This assessment claims that President Donald Trump’s recent military strikes on Iran did not succeed in destroying three targeted nuclear sites.
According to a report by CNN, which cites sources familiar with the intelligence findings, early evaluations from the Defense Intelligence Agency suggest that the airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan failed to eliminate critical components of the country’s nuclear program. Furthermore, the strikes reportedly did not destroy Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
The CNN report further asserts that the apparent effectiveness of the strikes was overstated, noting that the assault likely only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by months instead of the years claimed by the Trump administration.
Witkoff expressed his outrage during an appearance on The Ingraham Angle, stating, “Leaking that type of information — whatever the information, whatever side it comes out on — is outrageous. It’s treasonous.” He emphasized the need for accountability, urging law enforcement to investigate the matter thoroughly. “We must hold whoever leaked this information responsible, as it could jeopardize lives in the future. Leaking is completely unacceptable,” he said.
The military action, branded as Operation Midnight Hammer, saw the United States targeting Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities on Saturday evening. The operation involved dropping 12 GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators on Fordow and two on Natanz. Additionally, over two dozen Tomahawk missiles were launched from a U.S. submarine aimed at Isfahan.
Following the airstrikes, Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reported that initial assessments indicated that all three sites
