Ensuring Election Integrity: New Report Calls for Essential Reforms Across the U.S.

FIRST ON FOX: A nonpartisan election integrity watchdog has unveiled a comprehensive report advocating for vital reforms necessary to enhance election security across the United States.

The Honest Elections Project (HEP) introduced its 2025 report titled “Safeguarding Our Elections”, which outlines over a dozen essential measures. These recommendations encompass a range of strategies, including voter ID requirements, the maintenance of accurate voter rolls, and restrictions on foreign involvement in election processes.

“Election integrity ballot initiatives received overwhelming support during the last election cycle. As state legislative sessions commence, lawmakers have a responsibility to act on the clear mandate from the American public—to streamline voting while simultaneously enforcing robust measures against electoral fraud,” stated HEP Executive Director Jason Snead in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“The Honest Elections Project’s report serves as a definitive roadmap for legislators looking to uphold these standards in their respective states.”

HEP actively advocates against foreign interference in elections, particularly through dark money channels that exploit legal loopholes. The report highlights polling data revealing that a substantial 78% of Americans oppose foreign financial influence in elections.

According to the report, “It is illegal for foreign nationals to donate to political candidates, yet existing legal loopholes allow them to support ballot measure campaigns directly and indirectly.”

One alarming example involves the left-leaning group Sixteen Thirty Fund, which reportedly accepted around $243 million from foreign billionaire Hansjörg Wyss and spent $130 million on influencing ballot measures across 25 states. The report cautions against allowing such foreign influences to shape election laws and state constitutions.

Concerns Over Innovative Voting Methods

The report raises significant concerns regarding Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), a system that some states, such as Alaska, continue to implement despite bans in others.

“Ranked Choice Voting complicates the voting process, obscures election results, and undermines trust in the electoral system,” the report warns.

In 2024, a coalition of left-wing megadonors, including John and Laura Arnold, spent nearly $100 million promoting RCV initiatives in six states. Voters consistently rejected these efforts, defeating ballot measures in diverse locations like Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Oregon.

The Ongoing Debate Around Funding

The issue of “Zuck Bucks”—the controversial funding by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg—gained heightened attention after his $400 million investment during the 2020 elections. HEP’s report urges states to prevent similar occurrences from undermining election security.

“Elections must be accountable to the public rather than to special interest groups or wealthy donors,” the report emphasizes. “In 2020, more than $400 million from left-leaning nonprofits and Zuckerberg went into electoral offices, disproportionately benefiting areas that ultimately voted for Joe Biden.”

Key Recommendations for State Legislators

HEP’s report presents a range of recommendations aimed at enhancing electoral integrity. These include:

  • Implementing strict transparency measures in election funding
  • Conducting comprehensive post-election audits
  • Ensuring lawmakers are responsible for crafting election laws
  • Protecting vulnerable mail-in ballots to guarantee security

Protecting Democracy through Reform

As the landscape of American elections continues to evolve, the push for integrity remains crucial. The Honest Elections Project’s report highlights an urgent need for reforms that prioritize security and transparency. Lawmakers must act decisively to safeguard the electoral process, maintaining public trust while adapting to new challenges ahead.
