Broncos Lineman Garett Bolles Champions Wildfire Prevention and Honors Military Veterans

Garett Bolles has dedicated himself to protecting those who matter most to him.

On the football field, the Denver Broncos offensive lineman excels at safeguarding his teammates, especially second-year quarterback Bo Nix. Beyond the gridiron, Bolles has taken on another crucial role: supporting military veterans.

In a recent interview, Bolles expressed his admiration for veterans. He shared, “Seeing military veterans and what they endure regularly is powerful. They go to war for our freedom in the United States, providing a secure environment for families and children. Their sacrifices help us live without fear, and their hard work is truly admirable.”

This passion for community drove Bolles to partner with USAA and Team Rubicon for wildfire prevention efforts at Eagle Next Ranch, a Colorado facility dedicated to veterans with PTSD. Recently, he spent a day clearing brush and removing debris around the ranch—essential work considering the rising wildfire risks in Colorado.

Wildfire Prevention Efforts

The ranch’s therapeutic environment for veterans holds special significance for Bolles, who grew up in a wildfire-prone area of Utah. He remarked, “This issue resonates deeply with me, especially with my military background and knowing our community is at risk. Colorado is known for being a high-risk wildfire area, one of the deadliest in the country. It’s vital that we create a protective zone around this beautiful ranch so that veterans can come here and find peace without the anxiety of wildfires. Clearing brush with machetes and chainsaws was not only necessary but also enjoyable for me as a rancher. Ensuring this place remains safe is a priority.”

Emphasizing his commitment to the community, Bolles stated, “Protecting military veterans is part of my family legacy. Whenever I get the chance to help, it reinforces my core values and brings me joy. I protect my quarterback, and now I’m able to protect my community, which is incredibly important to me.”

Looking Ahead to a Promising Season

As Bolles returns to his role on the field, he shifts his focus back to supporting Nix, who is embarking on his second year in the NFL. The previous season marked a turning point for Bolles, as he finally made the playoffs after nearly a decade in a Broncos uniform.

Reflecting on his journey, Bolles shared, “The last several years were a rollercoaster. We’ve faced significant hurdles but also had high hopes that often fell short. Entering my ninth year, I feel optimistic seeing new ownership, a revamped coaching staff, and emerging talent. It’s exhilarating to be part of a more stable and forward-moving team. We are focusing on the details necessary to lead us to a Super Bowl victory.”

Bolles plays a vital role not just as a lineman but as a mentor to Nix, blending teamwork with guidance. He commented, “We have a symbiotic relationship. Sometimes, I need to remind Bo to relax. Other times, he encourages me to stay focused. We feed off each other’s energy.”

Despite his youth, Bolles views Nix as a significant asset. He praised, “Bo is incredibly talented. His composure, calm demeanor, and leadership qualities light up our team. Alongside our defensive standout Pat Surtain, we gather strength from all young players stepping up to lead us to victory, just as we did last year during our playoff return.”

A Resilient Team Mindset

This year signifies a chance for renewal after several seasons of struggle. Bolles stated, “Our journey has been marked by adversity, but our resilience is unmatched. We understand that how we finish matters far more than how we start. I genuinely believe we can achieve as much as we are willing to strive for. Controlling our efforts and maintaining positivity every day can propel us toward success this season in the NFL.”

As Garett Bolles balances his dual responsibilities of protecting his teammates and advocating for crucial community issues, he embodies the true spirit of leadership both on and off the field.
