She argued that while Albanese positions herself as an independent investigator, her advocacy for BDS is apparent, potentially aligning the U.N. with a divisive international movement against Israel.

In reaction to inquiries concerning Albanese’s independent status, the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights reiterated that experts in special procedures, including Albanese, operate without compensation and are not considered U.N. staff.
