Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are stepping up to assist residents in central Texas who have been greatly affected by devastating floods. These dedicated individuals are not only helping to clear away debris but are also offering emotional support during a challenging time.
Jason Kimak, the Senior Director of North American Ministries for Samaritan’s Purse, expressed the organization’s mission. He stated that the group aims to embody the hands and feet of Jesus Christ by helping people restore their homes and communities. Volunteers from various locations across the United States have come together to provide both physical assistance and emotional encouragement for those impacted by the flooding.
Before heading out to various locations, volunteers participate in prayer sessions, emphasizing the significance of faith in the recovery process. In recent days, volunteers have worked diligently to remove mud, clear debris, and listen to the stories of survivors.
Kimak shared a poignant account from his recent visits to affected neighborhoods. He recounted meeting a woman who was abruptly awakened in the early hours by rising waters flooding her home. The chaos in the streets, with people shouting for help, painted a stark picture of the disaster’s impact.
