California Governor Newsom Challenges Trump on Epstein Connections Amid Ongoing Controversy

California Governor Gavin Newsom has recently directed critical comments towards President Donald Trump, highlighting the president’s past associations with the now-deceased Jeffrey Epstein. This scrutiny arises as Trump aims to divert attention from inquiries regarding his administration’s handling of Epstein-related documents and the claims of a nonexistent ‘client list.’

Newsom’s Commentary on Trump’s Administration

During an appearance on the Shawn Ryan Show, Newsom was questioned about Trump’s previous pledges to release Epstein-related files. However, these documents have yet to be made public.

Newsom responded, saying, “The whole thing has, to me, always been a side show. But I thought it got real interesting when Elon [Musk] put out that tweet and then all of a sudden a few weeks later, ‘what file?'” This remark points to a larger narrative that Newsom seems keen to promote.

Elon Musk’s Controversial Tweets

Newsom’s comments reference a tweet by Musk, which has since been deleted, stating that Trump “is in the Epstein files” and suggesting this was the reason behind their lack of release. Musk, who had previously been an ally of Trump, has criticized the administration for its inaction regarding Epstein’s connections.

“When Elon put that out, I thought it was a big tell,” Newsom added, underlining the significance of Musk’s comments in framing the prevailing discussion.

The Debate Over Epstein’s ‘Client List’

Earlier in the year, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi indicated that an Epstein client list was available for review. However, shortly thereafter, the Justice Department and FBI claimed Epstein’s death left no evidence of such a list. Bondi later clarified that her reference was to the Epstein case file, not an actual client list.

In response, Trump has attempted to distance himself from questions surrounding Epstein, asserting that this topic is no longer relevant. He expressed frustration over the ongoing inquiries and indicated he no longer wishes to align with “weaklings” who persistently bring up the Epstein issue.
