DNI Tulsi Gabbard recently intensified her claims regarding the alleged politicization of intelligence by officials in the Obama administration. She argues this led to a prolonged coup attempt aimed at undermining President Donald Trump following his victory in the 2016 election.
During her appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Gabbard asserted that various deep state obstacles hindered the dissemination of vital information tied to the Trump-Russia collusion investigation. She suggested that certain factions within the intelligence community actively sought to suppress this information from coming to light.
Gabbard stated, “There are a lot of deep state actors still present within Washington. President Trump wants us to uncover the truth, and I also seek that truth. The American people deserve transparency, alongside accountability, which is why I am pleased to see Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice formulating a strike force team today.”
This specialized team aims to pursue the intelligence and evidence collected thus far while charting a course for accountability.
Last week, Gabbard took to social media to disseminate over one hundred declassified documents pertaining to the intelligence community’s assessments related to potential Russian influence before and after the 2016 election. She emphasized that the consensus among intelligence professionals prior to the election indicated that Russia lacked both the intent and capability to execute an effective hacking operation against U.S. elections.
Gabbard noted, “For months ahead of the 2016 election, the Intelligence Community established a consensus view: Russia did not possess the means or intent to interfere with U.S. elections. However, everything changed just weeks following President Trump’s historic victory over Hillary Clinton.”
In her social media posts, the former congresswoman accused President Obama of directing the intelligence community to construct a new intelligence assessment on Russian election interference that contradicted earlier conclusions drawn by the same group.
In response to Gabbard’s claims, a spokesperson for Obama described her allegations as “outrageous” and a distraction. This statement serves to reaffirm the widely appreciated conclusion that while Russia attempted to influence the 2016 presidential election, there was no manipulation of votes.
Furthermore, Ned Price, a former official from the Obama National Security Council, criticized Gabbard’s assertions as an attempt to challenge established facts with unfounded conspiracy theories. He pointed out that Gabbard muddled the definitions of “hack” and “influence,” which are vastly different concepts.
A bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report issued in 2020, which included insights from then-Senator Marco Rubio, determined that Russia did not engage in hacking election infrastructure.
While the committee concluded that Russian interference did not physically alter election outcomes, it found undeniable evidence of efforts by the Russian government to erode confidence in American democratic institutions and processes. Rubio highlighted in a 2020 press release that the committee uncovered no evidence to suggest collusion between Trump and Russian officials.
Despite this lack of collusion evidence, Rubio stated, “What the Committee did find is deeply troubling. We established irrefutable proof of Russian meddling,” and critiqued the FBI’s reliance on the Steele dossier, which faces significant scrutiny.
According to the Senate Intelligence Committee’s findings, Russia executed a comprehensive and multi-layered plan to influence the 2016 presidential election. This included WikiLeaks, which reportedly played a fundamental role in the Russian disinformation campaign by releasing hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee.
Gabbard has taken her fight for accountability a step further by sending a criminal referral to the Department of Justice regarding the declassified documents. She expressed her resolve to continue championing accountability for the American public during her segment with Jesse Watters.
Following Gabbard’s revelations, Trump has accused Obama of treason, escalating the contentious dialogue surrounding intelligence and election interference. Recently, he shared a video, reportedly generated using AI, on his social media platform that depicted Obama being arrested in the Oval Office.
These developments illustrate the ongoing clash of narratives surrounding the Trump-Russia investigation and allegations of deep state involvement. As public interest in governmental transparency grows, the need for accountability and rigorous investigation remains a focal point for many Americans.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Gabbard’s calls for truth and transparency reflect a broader demand among citizens for clear answers on the circumstances surrounding the 2016 election and the role of intelligence agencies. The implications of this discourse extend far beyond just the past, shaping the narrative of future elections and United States governance.
