While he maintains a club handicap of approximately 26, Payne has chosen to refrain from competing in official tournaments. “I’m getting too long in the tooth for that,” he joked.

He adheres to a regimen that includes gym sessions twice a week, which he believes play a critical role in maintaining joint mobility and perfecting his swing. “Golf is important, but the gym is important for the movement side of things,” he added. “As you get older, you need mobile joints. You need to be able to turn.”
