Houston ICE Unveils Details on Arrests of Illegal Child Sex Offenders

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has provided new insights into the arrests of illegal immigrant child sex offenders in the Houston area over the past six months. The Houston ICE Field Office has apprehended 214 illegal migrants with charges or convictions related to sex offenses involving minors under the current administration.

Profiles of Arrested Offenders

In the past six months, a range of criminal illegal immigrants charged or convicted of child sex offenses have been apprehended by the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Houston. Here are some of the notable cases:

Gabriel Julio Velazquez Lopez, 25, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, faced charges of sexual assault of a child and assault with intent to commit rape. He entered the U.S. illegally four times since 2016. ICE arrested him on April 8 and he was deported by April 10, 2025.
Roberto Antonio Caballero-Garcia, a 31-year-old from El Salvador, was apprehended for three counts of sexual assault of a child in Dallas County. He was convicted in 2017 and received 10 years of deferred adjudication. He was ultimately deported on May 5, 2025.
Carlos Alfredo Lopez Espinal, 45, also from El Salvador,was convicted of sexual indecency with a minor in March 2025. He was arrested by ICE on July 18, 2025.
Meliton Gonzalez, 76, a criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico, was convicted of child sexual assault in 2015 and sentenced to 10 years. He had been illegally residing in the country since 1976 and was deported on June 12 after serving his sentence.
Mario Ramirez Martinez, a 71-year-old from Mexico, faced two counts of sexual assault of a child in Hidalgo County, Texas. Following a 10-year prison sentence, he was arrested by ICE and deported on June 2, 2025.
