Rooftop Pastor Corey Brooks to Undertake 3,000-Mile Trek to Inspire and Support Struggling Youth

A pastor from Chicago known for his unique activism is embarking on a significant journey to inspire America’s youth.

Corey Brooks, affectionately dubbed the “Rooftop Pastor,” plans to walk 3,000 miles from New York to Los Angeles this September. His mission aims to raise awareness and funds for community development in Chicago while addressing the needs of underserved youth across the nation.

In an interview with Fox & Friends, Brooks emphasized the importance of spiritual renewal, stating, “Our country has drifted away from God. Our families and communities have also strayed, and we need a spiritual awakening in America.” His resolve fuels his determination to reach out, stating, “That’s one of the reasons I’m walking across America, to bring hope to people in cities, suburbs, and rural areas, so they know that change is possible.”

Brooks gained national notoriety in 2011 when he spent 94 days on the roof of a dilapidated hotel in Chicago to protest violence and youth deaths in his community. His goal was to raise funds to demolish that hotel, which he labeled as a hotspot for drugs and crime.

This activism bore fruit, leading to the creation of Project H.O.O.D., a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting at-risk youths in escaping the grips of poverty and violence. According to the organization’s website, it offers mentorship, training, and vital community support.

“In Chicago, we’ve taken one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in America and transformed it,” remarked Brooks, reflecting on the significant progress made through this initiative.

A New Mission: Walking Across America

Brooks is now turning his attention to a new endeavor known as the “Walk Across America.“ This initiative aims to raise $25 million in private donations to complete the construction of Project H.O.O.D.’s expansive 90,000-square-foot Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center in Chicago, aiming to do so without incurring debt. He envisions expanding Project H.O.O.D. events nationwide.

“We need to establish schools and extend Project H.O.O.D. across the United States,” Brooks shared. He reiterated the purpose of his monumental walk, stating, “This is not merely a fundraising walk; it’s about restoring merit in society.”

Brooks Receives Support from the Community

The initiative has already garnered backing from private citizens, business leaders, and various donors, fortifying Brooks’ mission.

“We are constructing a 90,000-square-foot center, thanks to the generosity of the American people and the Fox Network,” he expressed, extending his gratitude to all supporters of the journey.

Faith and Hard Work: Key to Success

Brooks believes his walking mission serves as a powerful lesson on faith and determination. He said, “I genuinely believe America can succeed. With faith, hard work, and a clear vision, we can achieve greatness in this nation.”

As Pastor Corey Brooks sets forth on his epic trek, his message resonates with hope and determination. Through his journey, he aims to inspire countless individuals, proving that change is possible through commitment and collective effort.
