Countless creators on TikTok have showcased their journeys, often reporting a loss of several pounds after participating in their watermelon-centric ‘fasts’ spanning three to seven days. Although these transformations generate interest, they raise important considerations for health and nutrition.

Dr. Mark Hyman, a Texas-based physician and co-founder of Function Health, provided his insights into the watermelon diet during an interview. He characterized it as another trend in a long line of quick-fix diets that ultimately compromises sustainable health.
