Michael Donilon, who was a senior advisor throughout Biden’s four-year presidency, is expected to participate in a closed-door interview with House Oversight Committee staff. This session could extend for multiple hours as investigators seek to clarify various aspects of Biden’s presidency.

The voluntary interviews, while less pressured than subpoenaed sessions, have averaged more than five hours. Both Democratic and Republican staff query the former aides in alternating rounds, emphasizing the thoroughness of this investigative process.
In a letter dated June, Comer communicated directly with Donilon, alluding to the former advisor’s responsibility for creating barriers that shielded Biden from unfavorable information. He noted, ‘You were reportedly responsible for erecting a wall between the former president and senators to shield Biden from bad information.’ He further highlighted Donilon’s willingness to discuss Biden’s cognitive status while simultaneously denying any allegations concerning a decline in the president’s acuity and judgment.
Moreover, Comer underscored the critical nature of understanding Donilon’s roles and interactions within the Oval Office, stating, ‘If White House staff carried out a strategy lasting months or even years to hide the chief executive’s condition—or to perform his duties—Congress may need to consider a legislative response.’
