Authorities have released the mugshot of the fifth suspect connected to the viral brawl that erupted in downtown Cincinnati on July 26. The incident has garnered significant attention, and new developments continue to unfold as investigators work to hold all involved accountable.
The FBI, in collaboration with the Atlanta Metropolitan Major Offender’s Task Force, apprehended 38-year-old Patrick Rosemond on Monday afternoon in Fulton County, Georgia. Rosemond faces serious charges, including two counts of felonious assault and aggravated riot, according to the Cincinnati Police Department.
In addition to the assault charges, Rosemond is also facing one count of fugitive from justice for a fingerprintable charge, as reported by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently detained at the Fulton County Jail, awaiting extradition to Ohio.
Rosemond is a resident of Cincinnati and notably does not have any registered addresses in Georgia, highlighting his ties to the ongoing investigation. As authorities continue to pursue leads, no attorney could be located for Rosemond at this time.
In a statement shared on social media, FBI Atlanta expressed its commitment to supporting local law enforcement in removing violent offenders from the streets, emphasizing the collaborative effort involved in this case.
Rosemond’s arrest marks the fifth apprehension related to the violent altercation that resulted in injuries to six people, including one individual sustaining a serious brain injury. Law enforcement is still actively searching for a sixth suspect connected to this incident.
Shocking video footage has surfaced, showing a large group attacking multiple victims at the intersection of Fourth and Elm streets in Cincinnati’s bustling business district during the early hours of Saturday, July 26. The harrowing images depict several attackers punching and kicking the victims, leading one woman to lose consciousness and collapse in the street.
Eyewitness accounts reveal a troubling lack of response from those present during the altercation. Out of approximately 100 witnesses, only a single person called 911, raising concerns about community responsibility and safety. Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge highlighted this troubling fact, underscoring the need for increased vigilance and awareness among citizens.
In the wake of this incident, authorities have already apprehended several individuals linked to the brawl. Last week, Jermaine Matthews, 39, Montianez Merriweather, 34, DeKyra Vernon, 24, and Dominique Kittle, 37, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the assault.
Matthews initially faced charges of aggravated riot and assault. However, after a bond hearing, he received additional charges, including two counts of felony assault and one more count of assault. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is presently out on bail after posting a $270,000 bond.
Meanwhile, both Vernon and Merriweather are facing charges of felonious assault, aggravated riot, and assault. Merriweather remains in custody with a bond set at $500,000, while Vernon’s bond is $200,000. Kittle also faces a range of serious charges, including felonious assault and aggravated riot, in addition to three counts of assault. All three are currently held at the Hamilton County Jail.
A grand jury is set to convene on August 8, signaling the next steps in the judicial process surrounding this high-profile case.
This series of events has left Cincinnati residents on edge, heightening concerns about public safety and the prevalence of violence in the community. As the situation continues to develop, many are left wondering what measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The local community is looking for answers and solutions to enhance safety in the area. Community leaders and law enforcement agencies are urged to address these concerns and restore confidence among residents.
As more details emerge and the investigation continues, the focus remains on ensuring justice for victims and accountability for those involved in this disturbing incident. The Cincinnati police will likely continue to seek the public’s assistance as they continue their search for the remaining suspect.
