Browns Coach Unclear on Shedeur Sanders’ Future Following Impressive Preseason Performance
Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski provided limited insight regarding Shedeur Sanders’ potential role with the team after the quarterback’s standout preseason debut on Friday night. Sanders captivated the sports community by throwing two touchdown passes against the Carolina Panthers, garnering praise from notable figures like LeBron James and South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley.

“We need to get through the next couple of days from an injury standpoint and see where everybody is,” Stefanski remarked during a press conference the following day, when asked about Sanders’ standing with the team.
He emphasized the importance of developing all quarterbacks on the roster, explaining that each rep in practice contributes to their overall growth. “I’m really focused on all of our quarterbacks’ development and every single one of these reps last night, how important they are. So, that’s what I’m focused on more than anything,” Stefanski stated.
Stefanski acknowledged that while Sanders performed well, there are areas he can improve. “We have a standard for that position and really every position, but certainly the quarterback position. There’s a standard by which we play, how we operate, and how we take care of the football,” he explained.
“There are things that Shedeur can clean up, and he will clean up. But, by and large, I thought the operation was really good. That’s important when you have different guys in there. I think it goes back to maximizing all of your time in the building,” he added.

The most you can do is when you get your opportunity, when your number is called, perform and at least do the bare minimum to win the game. That’s what I feel like we did today, and definitely, there’s room for growth,” Sanders explained.
