Freshman running back J.T. Lindsey of the LSU Tigers has surrendered to authorities amid serious allegations of housing two men wanted in connection with murder charges in his dormitory.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, Shemell Jacobs, 17, and Keldrick Jordan, 18, faced charges of armed robbery and second-degree murder. The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended both individuals on Monday within the LSU dormitories.
The two were implicated in the murder of a 17-year-old in May of this year.
Lindsey was arrested on Friday and charged as an accessory after the fact in connection with the murder. He secured his release later that day after posting a $5,000 bond.
Documents from the investigation revealed that Jacobs possessed Lindsey’s school ID and could utilize the football player’s dorm PIN, suggesting a level of familiarity. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the pair together as early as July 24, according to local reports.
In a statement issued through his lawyer, Kris Perret, Lindsey maintained his innocence and emphasized that he was unaware of the suspects’ criminal background. “My client, J.T. Lindsey, was arrested on allegations of ‘accessory after the fact’ for allowing two individuals, ages 17 and 18, who he did not know were wanted in connection to a murder, to stay at his LSU apartment for a few nights starting around July 24,” Perret stated.
He elaborated that the charges against Jacobs and Jordan were linked to a crime committed in mid-May of 2025 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Importantly, there are no allegations suggesting that Lindsey had any involvement or connection to the alleged criminal acts of the suspects.
Perret further insisted that Lindsey is fully cooperating with the investigation. He indicated that Lindsey was completely unaware of the individuals’ criminal activities or their desire to escape law enforcement when he permitted them to stay in his apartment. He also stated, “Had he known that the individuals were accused of any crimes or were wanted by the police, he would not have permitted them entry into his apartment or engaged with them in any capacity.”
Additionally, Perret asserted that Lindsey took no actions, nor displayed any intent, to aid or conceal the whereabouts of Jacobs and Jordan in order to evade legal consequences. Lindsey was relieved that the authorities apprehended the suspects without incident.
LSU University officials acknowledged awareness of Lindsey’s arrest but refrained from commenting further to respect the ongoing legal process. Perret noted that while the investigation proceeds, Lindsey has been suspended from the team.
Originating from Alexandria, Lindsey was one of two highly recruited running backs who committed to play for LSU in the Class of 2025. His impressive performance earned him a four-star prospect ranking.
As of Sunday, Lindsey remained listed on LSU’s official roster.
