Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embarked on a significant visit to Washington this week, engaging with President Donald Trump and key U.S. officials. This meeting underscored a notable shift in U.S.-Israel relations, marked by swift policy implementations that favor Israel’s interests in the Middle East.
In an upcoming interview with Mark Levin, the host of Life, Liberty & Levin, Netanyahu expressed his admiration for Trump’s leadership in fostering a robust U.S.-Israel alliance. The interview will be aired on Saturday night.
“I believe President Trump is the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House,” Netanyahu commented. “He is not only bringing a tremendous reversal in the Israeli-American relationship but is also proving to be a remarkable leader for the United States and the world at large.”
Since reclaiming office less than a month ago, President Trump has taken several decisive actions affecting Israel and the broader Middle East landscape. Before his inauguration, he issued a stern warning to Hamas, threatening consequences if hostages held in Gaza were not released. A subsequent deal, facilitated with the cooperation of the Biden administration, emerged shortly thereafter.
One of the most impactful policy adjustments occurred in late January when Trump canceled a hold on the delivery of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. This shipment had been previously delayed by the Biden administration due to concerns regarding civilian casualties in Gaza. Netanyahu described Trump’s prompt decision to resume the bomb deliveries as “instantaneous.”
Netanyahu praised Trump for his unwavering support for Israel, stating, “In the initial two weeks, he fulfilled every promise. He took a stand against antisemitism and challenged the ICC, which he termed a corrupt body targeting democracies like America and Israel.”
Earlier this week, Trump further solidified his position by signing an executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC). This action came in response to the ICC’s investigations into alleged war crimes committed during Israel’s military responses in Gaza post the 2023 Hamas attacks. Both the U.S. and Israel have rejected the ICC’s authority.
The ongoing conflict has led to significant loss of life and extensive devastation in the Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of Palestinian casualties. Trump’s proposal to rebuild Gaza has garnered both interest and criticism, particularly from some Democratic leaders.
While addressing reporters alongside Netanyahu earlier this week, Trump detailed an ambitious plan: “The U.S. will take ownership of the Gaza Strip and undertake substantial reconstruction efforts. Our responsibilities will include dismantling unexploded ordnance and devastated infrastructure, paving the way for economic development that will create numerous jobs and housing opportunities for local residents.”
Netanyahu voiced his strong support for this initiative, highlighting Israel’s dedication to collaborating with the U.S. on future Middle East policies. “Israel has no better friend than America,” he affirmed. “Now, under President Trump, America has no greater ally than Israel.” He added, “This marks a refreshing start and a recalibration of our longstanding alliance.”
The complete interview featuring Prime Minister Netanyahu will air on Saturday at 8 PM on Life, Liberty, & Levin. The discussion promises insights into the evolving dynamics of U.S.-Israel relations under Trump’s leadership, emphasizing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
