Carly Pearce is taking a break from her favorite condiment following an unexpected accident.
The 35-year-old country singer recently shared a relatable moment on TikTok, showcasing her makeup routine with her thumb bandaged. In a candid video, Pearce recounted how she injured her thumb while opening a glass bottle of ranch dressing.
While preparing for dinner after her concert, she attempted to open the bottle when the glass unexpectedly shattered, resulting in a cut to her thumb. Pearce joked in her video caption, “brb avoiding all ranch!!” Her lighthearted approach captivated her fans.
“So last night, I was getting ready to eat dinner after my show, and I went to open a bottle of ranch dressing. The glass bottle snapped off, and a piece of glass sliced my thumb,” she explained. Initially, her fiddle player and assistant thought the injury was minor. However, Pearce realized that the liquid running down her hand was not ranch but actually blood.
Fortunately, a few paramedics were present at the concert venue. They quickly assessed her injury and ensured there were no shards of glass in the wound. The medical team advised Pearce that she required stitches and transported her to the hospital.
“What I didn’t know was that the ride to the ER would be in an ambulance, and it’s policy that patients must sit on the stretcher and be strapped in,” she remarked, humorously applying her makeup with one hand while recounting her experience.
During her visit to the hospital, Pearce underwent an X-ray to confirm that no glass remained in her thumb. The emergency room doctors informed her that stitches were indeed necessary. Due to the placement of the stitches—directly on the crease of her thumb—Pearce noted that she had to adjust her daily routines.
“I’ve had to learn to do things differently now, not the way I usually would,” she shared. In a humorous moment, she revealed that her assistant had to help her shave her left armpit because she struggled to reach it.
Despite the incident, Pearce expressed her gratitude that the injury was not more severe. She stated, “I’m going to be fine in about a week,” and even contemplated bedazzling her bandage to add some flair for her performances.
Reflecting on her experience, Pearce shared an important lesson. “The moral of the story is to be cautious when opening things and to not behave—like my mother says I do—like a bull in a china cabinet,” she advised with a smile in her video.
Fans reacted to Pearce’s misadventure in the comments, playfully commenting on the situation. One fan quipped, “This is the most Carly thing to ever happen to you,” while another joked, “Another reason not to like ranch dressing! So glad you’re okay.”
Pearce has an exciting lineup of performances ahead, starting with a show in Costa Mesa, California, later this week, followed by an appearance at the ACM Honors in Tennessee.
Earlier this year, Carly Pearce wrapped up her Hummingbird world tour. She also made a notable appearance on the main stage at Stagecoach, returning to the festival for the first time in almost a decade.
Reflecting on her return, Pearce expressed enthusiasm about the festival experience. “I’ve always wanted to come back because I played two very small shows at Stagecoach in 2018 when my career had just begun. At that time, ‘Every Little Thing’ was my only hit,” she shared. “The culture at the festival is so unique, from the vibrant clothing to the diverse music. Getting to perform alongside artists I admire is truly special.”
While the ranch dressing incident may have been a minor setback, Carly Pearce’s spirit remains unbroken. With a busy schedule of performances and a supportive fan base, she is poised to continue her journey in the country music scene. As she recovers from her injury, fans can look forward to seeing her back on stage, perhaps with a stylish bandage and a cautionary tale about glass bottles and ranch dressing.
