Additionally, we have improved support for our frontline employees by providing updated tools, technology, and streamlined processes. This empowers them to deliver efficient, accurate, and compassionate service to the American public daily.

Significant Progress in Service Delivery

In my first 100 days as Commissioner, the Social Security Administration has achieved notable progress in enhancing customer experience. We have successfully reduced the average wait time on our national 800 number from 30 minutes last year to single digits last month. New phone systems now enable 90% of calls to be managed through self-service or convenient callbacks. Moreover, field office wait times have shrunk by 30%, and we have eliminated 29 hours of weekly downtime for our online services, allowing for 24/7 management of benefits.

Improving Timeliness of Payments

In reaching historic lows, we have decreased Disability hearing wait times by 60 days. In addition, we distributed over 3.1 million payments, totaling $17 billion, to eligible beneficiaries—five months ahead of schedule—thanks to the Social Security Fairness Act.
