Describing the conservative political narrative regarding cities, Wu elaborated, “The cities that live in your minds are entirely different from those lived in by our residents. We are left to deal with the repercussions of your administration’s unfulfilled promises.”

With the crowd cheering, Wu referred to the tough economic climate, quipping, “Good news regarding our economy is as elusive as the Epstein list.” The event featured a vibrant atmosphere, highlighted by a Mariachi group that performed prior to her speech, alongside a local preacher and Senator Edward Markey from Massachusetts.

Boston was not the only city to address Bondi’s letters. Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson also received a similar communication from the Justice Department, prompting him to assure his constituents that the state would uphold its values despite federal pressure.

Ferguson made it clear, “Washington State has no plans to alter our principles in response to threats from the Trump administration.” He criticized the relentless targeting of law-abiding immigrants as fundamentally wrong.

Additionally, other jurisdictions including Cook County, Illinois, home to Chicago, as well as Philadelphia and New York, have also received correspondence from Bondi. Connecticut’s Attorney General William Tong responded on behalf of his state, stating that any claims of non-compliance with federal laws are unfounded.

“Connecticut stands ready to exercise all necessary legal rights and defend our sovereignty against federal overreach,” Tong emphasized.

In Philadelphia, the city’s attorney made a distinction, suggesting that the birthplace of America is not a sanctuary city but rather a welcoming community. City Solicitor Renee Garcia confirmed, “Philadelphia has not received any formal notification from the Department of Homeland Security. We will evaluate all communications with the utmost caution.”
