Georgia Bulldogs running back Nate Frazier reflects on his football journey with a blend of laughter and nostalgia. The true freshman from Compton, California, vividly remembers his first college carry. Although he didn’t expect the call to action against No. 14 Clemson, head coach Kirby Smart had faith in him.
Frazier recounted, “There have been players at the University of Georgia who waited three years without stepping onto the field. I wasn’t expecting to play.” His excitement and nervousness were palpable as he prepared for the moment.
“My heart was pounding, and I felt detached from my body due to nerves,” he said, describing his debut experience with a hint of humor. This first handoff, while nerve-wracking, set the tone for what lay ahead. Despite tripping over his own feet, he resolved to confront the high stakes of SEC football.
Frazier’s motivation stems significantly from his mother, Yomeisha Moore, who he describes as his hero. Having raised him as a single mother, she often turned to her family for support. Yet, her sacrifices and hard work left a lasting impression on Frazier.
“Her determination and work ethic instilled in me a sense of resilience. I cannot give up on myself, as I have witnessed her unwavering spirit,” he explained. The lessons learned by watching her navigate life’s challenges shaped his approach to football and life.
He added, “Mom never told me she couldn’t do something. She always found a way, no matter how difficult the situation. Her tenacity serves as a model for my own journey.”
Frazier’s debut game against Clemson proved to be a significant turning point. He bounced back from that initial stumble to rush for 83 yards and score a touchdown, contributing to a dominating 34-3 victory that opened the 2024 season.
Throughout his first season with the Bulldogs, Frazier rushed for 671 yards and tallied eight touchdowns, carving out a vital role on the team. With his skills and determination, he quickly became a player to watch for the future.
The stakes for Frazier are elevated as he embarks on another season, despite not being eligible for the NFL Draft just yet. His focus remains squarely on the team and what lies ahead for the Bulldogs in 2025.
What drives him most is not personal glory; rather, it is a commitment to his teammates and the loyal fans who support them. He aims to surpass achievements from the previous season, including their SEC Championship victory.
Frazier plays for more than just the pride of wearing a Bulldogs jersey. His thoughts often drift to the youth watching him play, especially those who may feel they share similar circumstances. From over 2,000 miles away, his mother watches with anticipation, hoping her son will continue to embody the spirit of perseverance.
“I play for all the kids who think it’s impossible to succeed in life. I want them to know there are alternatives to the paths they see all around them,” he stated. Frazier feels a deep responsibility to inspire others who may not see hope in their situations.
Furthermore, his commitment to family remains unwavering. “Whenever I face challenges during the season, my thoughts return to my family’s struggles and sacrifices. They have always supported me and stayed positive throughout the journey,” he expressed warmly.
As Frazier continues to grow within the Bulldogs’ football program, new opportunities arise, particularly through the partnership with Powerade and the refreshed
