Bryan Kobel, the CEO of TC BioPharm, revealed that the incident occurred in April during a dispute with a driver in South Carolina. He described how what began as a simple conversation quickly escalated, culminating in the driver knocking him unconscious.

“I was taken aback. Uber is a behemoth with a market valuation around $200 billion. When you use a service labeled with the Uber logo, it carries an immense weight of trust and reliability,” Kobel stated during an interview on a prominent news program.

He expressed shock and disbelief at the company’s response to the incident.

According to Kobel, shortly after he was assaulted, the driver resumed picking up other passengers. He reported the matter to Uber, providing them with his hospital records, a police report, and images showcasing his injuries.

“Approximately 48 to 72 hours later, Uber simply deactivated my account,” Kobel noted, highlighting his frustration.

In his lawsuit, Kobel claims that Uber has neglected its responsibility to properly vet its drivers and has evaded accountability for the harm inflicted upon him.

“One would have presumed, as I did, that they conduct rigorous background checks. I believed they screen these individuals thoroughly, ensuring that there is a robust process that is difficult to bypass; evidently, this is not the case,” he added.

The driver has been identified as Vadim Uliumdzhiev, a 42-year-old Russian national who has reportedly entered the United States illegally, according to statements from the Department of Homeland Security.

Following the assault, Uliumdzhiev was apprehended and charged with second-degree assault and battery, later released on a $10,000 bond. He is currently in custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“This has made me question the safety of the platform. How frequently has this individual acted violently? What measures are in place to prevent such occurrences?” Kobel pondered.

He expressed concern that the incident might not be an isolated case, suggesting a pattern in how Uber handles incidents of violence involving its drivers.

“It seems to me that Uber’s protocol is to place their riders in perilous situations. When incidents occur, they evade liability by claiming it is beyond their control,” Kobel criticized.
