On a special episode of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” marking the show’s 30th anniversary, Kernen revealed that Trump reached out to congratulate him on the milestone. However, the tone soon shifted as Trump lamented Kirk’s untimely death, acknowledging the profound impact Kirk had during the last election cycle.
“He’s devastated about Charlie Kirk and said, ‘What a guy, what a great individual.’ He credited him with significant contributions in the last election, noting that Charlie Kirk could have been president someday, given his remarkable talent,” Kernen recounted.
