Fox News Digital has established itself as a leader among news brands in key metrics during August. As many Americans turned to the platform for timely information and insightful analysis, the network continued to thrive.
The month of August witnessed significant events, including a notable summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Trump administration’s deployment of National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., and Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announcing their engagement. Additionally, major corporate developments such as Paramount and Skydance completing an $8 billion merger captured public attention.
Within this competitive landscape, Fox News Digital outperformed rival news outlets, including The New York Times, CNN, CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, The Washington Post, and USA Today.
Fox News Digital led the way in multiplatform minutes, garnering an impressive 3.6 billion for a 10% increase compared to the previous year. In this category, The New York Times secured the second position with 1.2 billion multiplatform minutes, experiencing a 30% decline from last year, while CNN trailed with 826 million multiplatform minutes, reflecting a significant 65% drop. This achievement marks the 54th consecutive month that Fox News Digital has maintained its top position.
In the multiplatform views category, Fox News Digital again ranked No. 1 with 1.8 billion views, reflecting a 6% uptick from last year. The New York Times managed to secure 1.3 billion views yet recorded an 18% decline year-over-year. Meanwhile, CNN finished third with 605 million views, representing a 54% decrease.
Remarkably, it was the 16th consecutive month that Fox News Digital has dominated all competing news brands in this metric.
Fox News Digital also excelled in unique visitors, attracting 88 million across desktop and mobile platforms, outperforming all other news brands in this category. This marks the second consecutive month Fox News Digital has surpassed CNN in attracting unique visitors.
In August, Fox News released its Fox One service, allowing users to stream live news, sports, and entertainment on-demand. This initiative exemplifies the network’s dedication to evolving its digital offerings to meet audience demands.
Unfortunately, CNN faced challenges, experiencing its weakest month in both multiplatform views and minutes since tracking began in February 2015.
Among the competitive news brands, Fox News Digital achieved the highest average views per visit, with an impressive rate of 2.6 views. This metric indicates strong audience engagement, enhancing Fox News Digital’s already notable performance.
The platform recorded a staggering 148 million total digital unique visitors, marking a 29% increase compared to last year, reinforcing the brand’s growth in digital reach.
In the realm of YouTube, Fox News concluded August with a remarkable 386.2 million views, leading all news brands, including MSNBC, CNN, NBC News, ABC News, and CBS News, according to data from Emplifi. This figure represents a 65% increase in YouTube views compared to last year, coupled with a 16% growth from July.
Fox News further emerged as the most engaged news brand on social media in August, amassing 101 million total interactions—an astronomical 213% rise from last year and a 24% increase from July. This total included 71.9 million interactions on Facebook, 24.2 million on Instagram, and 5.3 million on X.
The Fox News Mobile App attracted 6.3 million unique visitors during this information-packed month. Moreover, FOXBusiness.com posted impressive results with 220 million multiplatform minutes in August, complemented by 125 million multiplatform views and 27.8 million unique digital multiplatform visitors.
Fox News Digital, along with CBS News, NBC News, The Washington Post, and ABC News, has opted into the Social Incremental strategy to account for total digital multiplatform unique visitors. Conversely, rivals such as CNN and The New York Times have not chosen to participate in this accounting method.
